Why did the animation quality get so bad in Dressrosa, and why did it get so much better in Wano?

I get that leadership in a company changes after an anime is going on for 20 years. But going back to a Dressrosa episode after getting used to Wano gives me whiplash because it's just so unpolished and poorly animated.

Why does the production quality of this anime change so much? And do you think it's going to change again in the next few years?

Yeah ...and the animation will get so much better than Wano's current animation when the raid starts (episode 976 and above)

Well wano is based on Japan and one piece is Japan's biggest thing so it's obvious that they improved quality in wano

I know anine isn't made by one person but Tatsuya Nagamine's involvement may have something to do with it. His anime are consistently good in the visuals department.

As far as i know. There was a change in production team when the show started wano. Also they gave that team a pretty big heads up to prepare production, so it has been looking really good overall. Idk about dressrosa but i know there were wano leaks reeealy early on and that serves as evidence they were working at it for long

Dressrosa was animated very perfectly, but in wano they made the animation bar go beyond the limits making dressrosa look bad in quality animation.

Because Toei decided to show us what they can be capable of doing. Now it's a masterpiece and visually better than anything this season

Shintani style. I'm pretty sure Toei itself changed artstyles at least for a while, since the same shintani artstyle that's used in dragon ball super broly is used in the current Wano Arc. But there are some small differences, although it's the same art style overall.

The animation quality was already great in Dressrosa, but it's true that it's better now. And not just the animation, but the whole production quality has improved a lot. I can't point out the exact reason for it, but I guess it's the sign of development of a team of people who, because of their accumulated experience through the years, found new ways of improving themselves.

As far as I know, at the time Dessrossa was being produced, Toei had a lot of other series being produced too, like Dragon Ball Super, so they had less personal working on it or at least less time. Also for some time they were producing and OVA so that decreased the wuality too. For Wano they changed a lot of things, like the time organization, also they have less series being produced (Digimon 2020 and One Piece are the only ones I think, if we are not considering the next Dragon Ball movie), and they change in animation director and character designer also have helped. Overall, a thing that I think makes most peaople think the animation is better is a filter they use on the lines (they also used it on DBS Torunament of Power, and in DBS Broy) making them more natural, like they were painted with ink.

Here's the only example I have find on internet about the filter they use:

As you can see some lines are sharper and other bigger, so it feels a little bit more natural. I like it.
