Like seriously. She’s like a really supportive bestfriend or gf in the newest chapters of the manga.

I expected a much different kind of manga from the first few chapters, because the author sets her up to be a genuine sadist, and I was ready for more of a dark comedy with this guy being an unwitting masochist to her sadism, and then... 10 or so chapters in and nearly all traces of her original sadism are gone, and then once you're halfway finished with the manga you start to realize you were duped, and that the whole sadist angle was nothing but a cheap gimmick. Which is fine, because the manga is still great, but the early chapters are misleading as fuck, and don't paint an accurate picture of Nagatoro or how the story/characters evolve.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Yeah... In the very early chapters, Nagatoro was pretty awful and senpai was way too pathetic.

Fortunately, both of them grow into actually likable characters over time... But yeah, at first, they are kinda difficult to like...

Well, it's good to hear that the dynamic between the two changes, especially if it changes sooner rather than later. As an anime only viewer, so far this show really feels like a masochistic take on shows like Takagi-san and Uzaki-chan. I'm willing to watch a few more episodes, but I gain no joy from watching a sadlad being bullied by a mean girl.

Agreed. When I started the manga a few weeks ago, I was not really happy with the first 3 chapters. So before deciding to drop it , I looked at ch 79(the current chapter at that time), and I was genuinely surprised how their interactions were much more like friends rather than what we saw in ch 1. This got me curious enough to read 10 more chapters, and I was hooked, I enjoyed the manga very much, more than Takagi san infact.

she is still sadistic but in a more just teasing manner or she just loves to tease him

yeah it’s kind of surprising considering senpai could not talk with stuttering to save his life now he can hold up a conversation and he’s just kind of embarrassed nagatoro but not to the point where he starts whimpering he can actually rebuff her

Why would people in the anime discussion care about how she is in the most recent chapter of the manga?

Yeah this is the reason I will probably drop the series. The bullying is really brutal in the first episode.

Well... I suppose it's worth knowing that things get better... The first few chapters of the manga are notoriously misleading. So being aware the story mellows out allows you to make a more informed decision on whether or not you should give it a chance. Have you never watched a series that has a few awful episodes (or even a bad first season), but then you were glad you stuck with it because it got better?

Also, it isn't exactly bullying yet, as it isn't continuous or truly mean spirited... It's teasing that goes to far. Her pushing him into the pond happened by accident (she's clearly shocked by how light he is).

Doesn't change the fact that Nagatoro was indeed too inconsiderate (and senpai was way too pathetic), but that changes pretty quickly. Both characters actually evolve a lot... Nagatoro becomes much more considerate, and senpai actually starts growing a spine.

The "bullying" doesn't end, of course, but it stays well within the realm of "friendly teasing".

No. That's not sadistic, that's just Uzaki-chan.

You can just ignore it, it's unsupported manipulative writing, treat it like slapstick humor. Her sadism is not believable, it's just a gimmick.
