DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- That was so radically different from the series proper, I wonder what got Horikoshi to change stuff so dramatically. Editors I guess, the series certainly went in a more generic direction, the fact that Tiamat was originally a Space Whale was so shocking to me, though as much as Tiamat was my favourite character in Barrage, I prefer this version. The character concept is more unique, and I love the interior version. Bulge and Tico's designs were improved upon though in the series proper though. I wouldn't say this was better than the series proper though. It's less generic, and I think it has cool ideas, like I think Bulge's power set is more interesting harboring a black hole in him. But while setting and power may be more unique, the plotting is still pretty generic, Tico's anger over Bulge felt pretty pointless and unnatural. And I don't think it provides a very strong hook to continuing. Wouldn't really say it's worse though, since several elements are more interesting. 6/10, same as the series proper. |
