^ This guy know his Fate series

If you're completely new to the fate series, i would just watch Fate/Stay night : Unlimited Blade Works first, and then watch Fate/zero.

Those are the 2 main pillars on which the whole succes of the fate series rests. The Fate/Stay night movies are good too, but i dont think u can watch the 3rd movie yet, since it hasnt been released on dvd yet.

If u like the 2 main series, u could checkout the spinoffs, Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia is decent, but i wouldnt recommend the rest.

There's only 1 proper way to watch the fate series...don't listen to anyone else who says differently.

Correct order:
1. Fate zero
2. Fate stay night
3. Fate heavens feel

Fate zero is where everything starts, it's literally the beginning of the story. Fate stay night continues from the ending of fate zero and heavens feel is the last part of the fate stay night story. So that's the only proper order to watch it...there's no other order to watch it

Also you can skip the first fate stay night it's terrible, just go straight to fate stay night UBW because it's better

i hope you know that you're about to get a bazillion different responses. trust me, you'll just end up with more questions than answers.

the solution: give up and watch something else.

I dont like it personally but when I was interested I did find so many different answers I got a headache

Main Story:
Start with Fate/Zero. The reason for watching it first and not in release order is because it is the best in the series, and Fate/Stay Night Spoils it. Also Fate/Zero is the first one.

Then watch Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works (Show version). There is a movie version but DO NOT watch that one. It's really bad.

Finally, watch the Fate/Stay Night: Heavens Feel Movie Trilogy.

Optional Main Story:
Watch Fate/Stay Night (The original version) and Fate/Stay Night: UBW Movie. These are optional since they're bad.

The Best Spinoffs:
You don't have to see any of the spinoffs and you don't need to watch them in any order. My favorites are Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/Grand Order, and the Kara no Kyoukai Series (Which you watch in release order)

This is the best (and only good way) to watch the fate series outside of reading the visual novels.

To put it simply:
Fate/Zero, Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works (TV Version), Fate/Stay Night: Heavens Feel Movie Trilogy, Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/Grand Order, Kara no Kyoukai Series

How to watch the Fate series in chronological order for the main series:

Zero --> Fate/Stay Night 2006 (Optional) --> Unlimited Blade Works --> Heaven's Feel Movies

===============================================================================================

How to watch the main Fate series without Zero spoiling one of the big twists of the Heaven's Feel movies and giving a lot of Fate fans aneurysms:

Fate/Stay Night 2006 (Optional) --> Unlimited Blade Works --> Heaven's Feel Movies --> Zero

===============================================================================================

Imo, either order is fine.

As far as the spin-offs go, there's really no order to watch them. You could watch Fate/Apocrypha before Fate/Grand Order (the best Fate spin-off) or vice versa and it would still be fine.

I would strongly suggest watching Kara no Kyoukai at some point, btw. It's not directly connected to Fate (it's set in a parallel universe), but it's a part of the greater Nasuverse that Fate is in. You don't need to watch it if you're just trying to get into Fate, but it's a pretty good series.
