| Even if Berserk 2016 is good, the old version should still be watched before. They're not the same thing! The 97 version adapts the Golden Age arc and 2016/2017 version adapts the Conviction arc. |
| 1997 Berserk is the best. The 3 Ougon Jidai-hen movies also adapt the same arc and are basically a remake, but the first two of them skip too much. Only the 3rd one is worth watching, especially if you aren't satisfied with the ending of the series (it's kind of.. abrupt). The 2016/2017 series are sequels which shouldn't exist. |

| I'd stick with the 1997 version, you could watch the movies but the cgi is pretty atrocious and you'd miss out on one of the greatest op's ever written lol. The 2016 sequel will probably go down as one of the worst adaptations ever made |

| Oh 1997 all the way ! I actually really like the animation style and the story has great pacing and awesome arcs and apart from the occasional misoginy that can unfortunately be traced back to the manga, it's almost flawless ! Berserk is definitely a must watch. 2016 version tho .. I dunno, yeah it looks awkward, but at the same time I didn't really enjoy it, was kinda boring? I can't really pinpoint why, I've only seen it once like a few years ago, but I remember being underwhelmed and not just because of the 3d animation .. |
| I thought the movies were very good, you can't go wrong with those. The old series is probably okay too, but the 2016 version has one of the worst reputations of all anime so I'd probably avoid it. |

| I agree 2016 is bad 1997 version is better but ima be honest the story and sound track of 2016 is badass its just the animation is so dogshit but if you turn your brain off hard enough you can watch thorugh it |
