Title says it all. I've noticed many other sites, even competitors, using MAL descriptions. Is there a policy/rule for this?

Under the Terms of Service "You are solely responsible for your User Content that you upload, publish, display, link to or otherwise make available (hereinafter, "post") on the Service, and you agree that we are only acting as a passive conduit for your online distribution and publication of your User Content."

So if another websites uses the description, it is not MAL's problem as MAL doesn't own the description. It's users like me and you who are the original writers that own it.

But the common curiosity is to credit MAL since description writers don't list their own name. Just like how MAL credits outsiders when using their descriptions

fansub groups

So like if you visit AniDB and look at their Usaru-san entry they don't credit themselves. And the original writer of the description (AniDB user named "millo") obviously doesn't credit himself when he wrote it.

It's a lot like Wikipedia as a whole, people work together for the greater good. They credit things if taken from somewhere (wiki footnotes) but if uniquely made and posted there is no credit listed (like almost every episode synopsis for any TV show in Wikipedia).
