I want to import my anime-planet list til MAL.

Waay back I used both Anime-planet and MAL, using Anime-planet more because it was simpler, but when I wanted to switch, there was no longer a export feature on AP.

I have waited patiently for years, and now the feature is back. But when I realized that, MAL went down and shut down some functions.

Now, I'm back again, but sadly it seems that you can only import list from MAL or IBM

Any help? I want to switch, but adding years worth of anime manually is such a turn off :/

MAL never had an import feature for Anime Planet lists and one reason is that AP never had an export feature until recently.

There was a workaround of scraping the AP list, importing it to AniDB and using the AniDB export to import it on MAL. Here is the thread for it:
https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=135910

But the problem is that this script uses the MAL API which is still down so the script won't work.
And I'm not sure if it's possible to change the script so that it won't use anything from MAL.

Adding an AP list import feature directly on MAL would be a bit complicated because the AP list export doesn't contain a lot of information (it doesn't even say if it's a TV series, OVA etc.) so it would be hard to match some titles correctly. With AniDB exports it's easier because our database entries have links to AniDB so you can just match the IDs. So I wouldn't expect this to be added anytime soon (if at all).

If you don't want to transfer your list manually then I think the best you can do is wait until the API is back and someone modifies the script in the other thread. Or if someone modifies the script so it works without the API.

Maybe this is stupid or silly, but i wanna know - is "last updated on jan 1, 1970" thing fixed and/or related to import/export feature?
Probably that happened when you imported lists before 2015 year.
Can't explain why, but i want this. Well, maybe to show that i watched *showname* long ago, because recently i updated all the scores on my main list and all entries have new same date.
