Have I missed something betweeen s3 and s4?

Have I missed something important between season 3 and 4? Issei had a challenge with the 4 satans (according to a flashback in s4e2) and he is suddenly incredibly fast when using the dragon glove and know kung fu/parkour etc. Has there been something that I missed or is this just a regular lazy writing power jump?

Born fucked that up. Issei was meant to learn martial arts during his training with Tannin. This stuff that you mention happened in the LN. This is supposed for LN readers.

For context, Born was supposed to adapt volume 5,6,7. However the director decided to remove half of volume 5, swap 6 and 7, and use 1/4 of the series for an original plot instead. If they ever follow Born original crap, they will have to more or less rewrite tons of future plots.

The fans in Japan was livid and in a saving throw move, the author bundled a side story with Born DVD/BRD in which the kids of Issei returned to the present and changing it to avoid a shitty future, essentially retconing Born events away to clean the way for any future adaptation.

This is also why they made the switch to Passione who more or less promised a faithful adaptation. Hero is made following the event in the LN, not Born. It tried to retcon a bit via life 0, but ultimately was not able to cover everything.

Back to your question, this improvement in capability was suposed to be touched upon in Born, but they skipped thing so fast it never sunk in: Issei was trained by Tannin. This training consisted of the Dragon King attack him randomly while he try to survive in a wild mountain with zero provision. Issei had to become tarzan Mk.II to survive, learning how to run and dodge sudden attacks, how to catch food and breath fire to cook them.
Yes, he can breath fire now, and became a buffed beefcake with far better base stat.

His movememt speed on the other hand, was from Issei promoting to knight. Apparently promoting to queen like he's been doing is doing it wrongly, as without first mastering rook, bishop and knight he couldn't archive the best increase in each stat, making Queen a jack of all trades instead of a Master of all. He was told to first master the lesser pieces, an advice which Issei commented about during life 1 just before he went Rook vs Sairaorg.

The 4 Satan thing is set before vol 9. And is a trial for issei and rias sort of like a Gremory wedding ritual to see if They are a match something along the lines and the 4 Satan's basically dress up as power rangers and issei fight sirzechs as the end as well as belezabub changes issei mutated peices which will impact the story this season

If you dont understand,
while summer holiday in S3, there's no scene that hyodo issei train many skills, one of that skill is when he promotion become knight, he will be fast like sword user(which is fast).
and if you miss it, let me try tell to you sekiryuteei is the Ddraig user. there's many Dragon Sacred Gear before issei, and there's Top 3 strongest sekiryuteei, one of that is hyodo issei which is he the current user of this sacred gear.

I just to understand people who don't understand in eps 2 and 3. I'm sorry if there's wrong if you LN reader too you can give me the better answer for us:D

What's the volume of the pieces thing? Because if it's in the 8th, they could at least make some ovas along with the 4 satan test. I don't know, it's weird that important information like that is only vaguely mentioned.

The Satan trial was last chapter of vol 8
