Fairy Tail
| I've seen a lot of hatred about the anime and people saying that it is a generic shounen and whatnot. The popular reviews for it give it terrible scores but the average rating that it has is pretty good. So is it really that as bad as some people say? Do people only hate it because it has too much cliche shounen tropes and it is too long or is it actually bad quailty? I think i would enjoy it if has decent characters and good action. |
| I think the manga is easier to binge because you can browse through it much faster and at your own pace too, considering that it has brain-dead story-telling. The art is nice though , so you can just select some waifu or husbando from it and turn off your brain while binging the whole manga series. The anime has way too many episodes for a brain-dead story. PS: Manga also has less garbage fillers compare to the anime, so at least you will only see the better part of it. For anime there're some genuine crap fillers. |

| No. It was already a mediocre show at best, and then there was that timeskip BS which undid everything the main characters had achieved... Save yourself the time. |
| "Cliche Shounen Trope" as a critique to me, isn't actually criticism since that only matter as per the number of shows a person had watched prior to the current. The anime has decent production behind it, music scores, motion graphics and design wise could be enough to justify watching at least the first 4 episodes until you decide for yourself if it's something you want to get into. Main Character, Natsu, is a goofy, righteous, head-first kind of protagonist but faces his own struggles. First female lead, Lucy on the other hand... I have problems with but within the anime itself, she's a lovely, innocent and kind-hearted girl. The other side-lead characters are interesting enough and do get their development arcs and what not. So characters wise, I would say are (although cliche) fairly purposeful towards the series. Fairy Tail gets off with somewhat of a strong start but as the story progresses you realise it repeats itself a lot and it overuses the 'power of the nakama' which can get frustrating. But if you're looking for pure action, the fight scenes are as proper as anime can get and they have magic, so plenty of elements to play with. I personally liked the series and gave it a chance up till I was halfway through season 2. Manga wise, I dropped it at the final Arc due to pure disappointment of the author failing to deliver through the hype that he sets up. You'll probably enjoy the first few arc nonetheless, so give it a shot. |

| I don't hate this because it is generic. there is a lot of generic anime that I enjoy This show is not good because it has -weak story (and it is not even serious most of time) -dumb characters (specially that annoying Natsu which keep screaming). I only like Erza but she does not get same screen time as Natsu - Stupid fights. Most of the fights are dumb and so repetitive. A lot of fights does not feel serious, it feel like watching a comical fights than serious fights. Also, in every fight you see Natsu getting powered up for no reason. When he fights someone,he starts weak, he get angry, he scream and then get powerup and beats the enemy. Every fights he does the same thing. It is so dumb. Black Clover airing this season is even better than this shit but some people might disagree - It has so many boring fillers - It has some many episodes. You could easily watch much better shows for same a amount of time. Boku no Hero Academia, Magi, Nanatsu no Taizai, One punch Man, attack on titan, Akame ga kill, Akatsuki no Yona etc are like 10x better action anime than this shit. Don't waste your time on Fairy tail. Fairy tail is just an average show at best Hunter x hunter 2011 is miles better if you want long running anime |

Natsu is one most annoying character of all time. I do like Lucy but only because of her looks. And I like Erza because it she is badass and little more serious than other characters. Most of the supporting characters are not fun and dumb. Specially that guy who keep saying "MEN" (I forget his name) Serious moment ?! Not so much. | I haven't seen the anime, only read the manga (about 170 chapters) and so far I think it's painfully mediocre and I heard it only gets worse later on. |

| The opinions are pretty mixed. If you just like dumb action, then I guess you can watch it. But in my opinion there are much better anime out there. You should just watch a couple of episodes and see if it is something for you. |

| As someone who kind of forced himself into watching quite a few episodes....the answer is no. Out of the four main long shounen anime right I'd rank Fairy tale last. 1) Naruto: If you haven't seen Naruto yet, you are making the biggest mistake of your life. I was biased against for so long ad thought it was overhyped....until I watched it. You will get so attached to Naruto as a person and the storyline in general. But, the catch is that the amazing part of the anime kind comes in the later half. The real genius starts in at the pain arc in the shippuden series, where you will literally be jumping out of your seat. However, the stuff before is still great and definitely worth watching so you can get attached to the characters. Some really great stuff. The characterization and humanization of naruto is on another level. One of the msot likable main characters in my opinion. 2) One piece: This gets a lot of criticism. Yes it is a more laid back anime but it is one of the only ones to actually make me laugh. Luffy is a great main character and the anime definitely gets serious in some parts. A lot of great storyline, and also even though the plot goes on for like hundreds of episodes it doesn't feel like the quality has gone down. 3) Bleach: So Bleach is kind of a semi successful attempt of creating a great shounen. But they did a lot of stuff wrong. Too much unnecessary subplot, characters we didn't give a shit about, and weird direction the storyline took. Honestly, I'm pretty sure I could've come up with a better direction for the anime than the Arrancar arc. But...the action scenes were great (for the most part) and it was generally a really exciting anime. |

| Fuck no, its probably the worst Shounen I have ever seen. Feels like the mangaka didn't even try. Never has Nakama power been abused so much, the story is also repetitive shit, its cringeworthy & the characters suck (although the PLOT is nice with the girls). Its also not funny at all really so I don't see why people are saying that you should watch this if you like comedy (watch Beelzebub instead!). |

| Its one of the most "Generic" Shnen anime since it uses most of the tropes from the genre. Almost every shonen trope people complain about in every other Shonen is here (Asspulls, Nobody Dies, Nakama Powa, etc.). Just like SAO, Black Clover and Tokyo Ghoul, FT is a must watch at least to see where all the hate comes from even if you drop it after 3-5 episodes. |
