So, could anyone bring me a good explanation about "Super Robot vs Real Robot"

Most definitions don't explain it well enough to the level that i can classify an anime as such when first seeing it.

I didn't know Gurren Lagann was even considered Super Robot. Before reading more about it my rule of thumb was that if it looked like a cheap chinese bootleg toy it was a Super Robot, if it looked like a Gundam, it was a Real Robot.

Super Robot: pseudo-science or magic

Real Robot: vague science and Gundam

they are basically as there classification describes them

super robots: giant robots doing super heroic antics that don't have much basis in reality.

Real Robot: they try to set giant robots in some degree of reality and are utilized more as tools of war or any other reasonable utility

The quickest rule of thumb is;

Super Robot: unrealistic

Real Robot: realistic, or scientifically explained

To be honest I don't believe in either of these terms and I only use them out of convenience, because mecha is all one genre to me. I find the only people who use these terms are edgy children who think they are mature for watching "real robot" shows like Gundam while shitting on "super robot" shows, even though a lot of Gundams are totally unrealistic and, due to the more realistic settings in the shows, have no excuse for the massive plot armour the protagonists have. Specifically thinking of Gundam Wing here, but a lot of UC shows like 08th MS have this problem too.

I've only ever seen super-robot used as a term to define why one mecha isn't as "mecha" as another mecha and should therefore not be used to judge other mecha.
I just think of it in the sense that it's over-the-top big.
