I'm currently looking for an anime with smooth, beautiful animation. Any genre will do as long as I haven't watched it yet

Hand Shakers.
I haven't watched the anime myself, but the visuals are pretty stunning. I hope it's your kind of thing, because some people disliked how colorful it was. ;3

So here are a few anime with good artwork and animation that aren't on your list yet:

The Kizumonogatari trilogy
Makoto Shinkai works (like Garden of Words and Children Who Chase Lost Voices)
Flip Flappers
Princess Principal
Paprika
Literally every KyoAni series (especially Sound! Euphonium, Beyond the Boundary and the upcoming Violet Evergarden)
Madoka Magica

Wow, with 726 shows, that's hard to nail.

But. I see you haven't watched Monogatari series, and that's a MUST for me.

Nagi no Asukara has very beautiful visuals, you could give it a watch if you've not seen it.

earlier UFO anime, focused on stunning 3D scenes.

A lot of highly ranked mad house anime series. They excel in animating gorgeous scenes using traditional anime drawings with great details.

SHAFT. They have very distinctively beautiful style, and I don't just mean the head tilt.

Earlier (highly ranked) Kyoto Animation works.

etc.

I've been seeing 'Monogatari series' on the top lists here on MAL but I have my doubts on watching this anime. Can you please give me a simple plot of it without spoiling anything?

My summary of the plot probably won't do the show justice but here it goes:

3rd-year high school student and part-vampire, Araragi Koyomi, encounters and helps various girls from his town. All these girls are seemingly inflicted by some sort of supernatural creature but the real problem lies not in the supernatural but in each of the girls' psychological state.

---

It's very stylised and unique so it'll be quite hard to get into when you start but I recommend watching the first arc (eps 1-2) of Bakemonogatari. From the first arc alone, you'll know if you're gonna enjoy the rest of it.

Simple guy gets somehow in touch with supernatural phenomenons and he starts to get more and more involved to the point everybody he knows gets involved on something around that. A metaphorical series with a ton of dense dialogue/monologue driven story.

Edit: Didn't wanted to spoil even what's said in the post above, but now that its done i can say it. It's a story about overcoming your own "monsters". Also, some ecchi is sprinkled, but still makes sense because the series it's about mc teenage time and ends with his adulthood...
