| I've heard the idea quite a lot that people think the one piece is luffy's straw hat and that he might pass it down to someone else, but I don't think so. For one I think that's be cliched and it'd disappoint me. If Shanks knew what the one piece was, then why would he give it to Luffy, giving him his blessing to become pirate king, whilst getting stronger and becoming a yonkou himself? There's just no way he would want to make Luffy the pirate king no matter what just from knowing him as a little boy. C'mon that'd be lame. And Shanks has seen Raftel so he knows about one piece, so he couldn't pass the one piece down to Luffy unwittingly. I think he gave Luffy his hat as a farewell gift, just passing the memento on because he was going to become his own king. The world government and celestial dragons want to hide the truth of Raftel no matter what. The 100 year gap is made known by Raftel as was revealed by Oda. I think at the very least that the treasure is what is revealed on Raftel. I think there's something there that the key to defeating the celestial dragons. Gold roger wanted people to reach Raftel to learn about the 100 year gap but what he found there either led to his despair and capture, or he was unable to defeat the world government because of what they still had up their sleeves. Which would seem to be that weapon that the celestial dragons are hiding that Doflamingo was talking about. I think Gold roger had to leave it to the next generation of pirates and I think the one piece is a goal for pirates so that they may unite under one pirate king to defeat the evil of the world government and most importantly, bring freedom for pirates and people alike. Freedom is the core message of the series, and because Luffy values it the most is why he'll be most suited to lead the pirates in their final crusade for true freedom against the world government. C'mon, who else but Luffy could do it? lol, best character of all time maybe. Anyway, you guys have any theories? |

No I didn't know that the straw hat is confirmed not the one piece. Why's that? And you assume Shanks was on Raftel because he was part of Roger's crew, until it's revealed otherwise. That seems reasonable. And I must have missed the part that revealed that Roger couldn't defeat the world government because he was ill. Was that in one of the latest chapters, no? The reason I opened this thread was so that people can talk about their own ideas. Is there a problem with that? |

I don't know if it was ever revealed he couldn't defeat the world government, but he was ill with an incurable disease. First revealed around the time Rayleigh first appeared. |
