Whew.... A little break from the Furuya no Ace....

Of course still the "hate" on Furuya... Cause like, he's so selfish. He says "bring the team to the top"... On one hand that seems to sound "for the team" right? But how would the team feel, if the only reason they get to the top is because of Furuya? Like they won't feel like they accomplished anything at all!.
Instead be like Sawamura: "Let's make a piece of Art! together!" lol... "Teamwork", move up as a team. So that even if Sawamura's not the "best pitcher in Japan", the team still gets to be the best....

Other than that, the chapter felt short... I mean we got from Sawamura pitching to the next day, before tournament starts...
But it is still important to "introduce" the new characters... 1st years... Not just their names, but their "emotional state"/ "dreams"/ "ambitions etc;, for the readers to connect...
That's fine i guess.

I just wanted to know, who was going to start, as a pitcher... xD Hope it's Sawamura... (probably not)

Also Sawamura #7 felt nice. Okumura would have caught it, if he just held the glove where it was. But he moved to his right, cause he thought that's where the ball was coming... But then the ball "Sharp turns" to his left... Well, once the ball starts turning, it turned really fast... and hit the net's "frame" in the back...
And Sawamura still "apologizes" even thought Okumura was the one messed up. I think Okumura's getting it now. Pitching isn't pitcher and catcher, separately playing. They come together and become 1 unit. If 1 messes up, either the pitcher or the catcher; both messes up. So you really need to work together.
I think Okumura's starting to get, that to be a "good catcher", you need to "understand the pitcher" well... (that's part of the "working together as a unit)
Cause if you just "blame" the pitcher for bad pitches, and don't do anything; that's not a good catcher. You have to "understand" where the pitcher is coming from (even emotionally) and "fix", where it needs fixing, for the pitch to be successful. Kind of like Miyuki, he controls everything... xD Like a spider with pitchers on his net... That's what a true catcher is xD

They already confirmed the last chapter that Sawamura will be the starting pitcher.

It's been a long while since we've gotten a feel/hint of Sawamura actually being able to surpass Furuya. I'm hoping for this trend to continue, but I'm expecting it to be a slow process. Let's see how it plays out throughout these final two games of the tournament.

Yeah, this is definitely something i looking forward to, the most.
Furuya is starting to become someone who is so full of himself, just look at recent chapters he is starting to piss me off.

Not really... They just talked about it, in "general". No final decision has been made...

Give me the page number, if I'm wrong...

It may depend on translation but chapter 35, page 8.

I don't know how else it could be translated...
Miyuki's just saying: "If you can't keep yourself in the best shape possible, you'll end up giving Sawamura the starting position "again" in the next match"

Notice the "again"? As in "like last time"... But that means, if he was in his best shape, Furuya would start, right?

Also Miyuki's point was that "The coach will make the decision".

And was it chapter 34? Or something, where the fat chubby coach is talking to the main coach, upstairs in the office... And the chubby coach, asks which would be better, whether to let Furuya get some "rest" or what not... (he's always so focused on Furuya), The main coach "didn't say anything", on who was going to start the next match.
The scene "changed", to the players then... So later, there might be a small (half page) flash-back or something; where we hear the Coach's "response". This has to go with, whoever starts the next match.
So, next chapter... and we'll know who's starting. And why the coach decided that way.

@iApollo Actually, this last chapter, the coach looking at Furuya notebook... is probably a big hint on the coach's decision.

On one hand Furuya is selfish, but the coach who can read the notebook thing, figures out Furuya is being selfish "for the team's sake"... and all that. So he decided to put Furuya as the "start pitcher"...

So Furuya's probably going to start it this time... Cause like he's the "hope" of the team, and the real Ace etc;,...

Sawamura can kick the bucket, whatever; he's just a relief pitcher... If he can "not complain" and be ready for whenever the Ace don't feel like it, then they'll let him keep wearing the last number 18... Otherwise, he's off the team... You know... Sawamura doesn't really have any "say" in any matter... He's really not part of the team... He's just a relief...

@Commentator1 In the translation made by TDX, Miyuki says to Furuya " ... You'll give up the starting pitcher position to him next match again" and i don't think the team sees Sawamura as just a relief pitcher. If anything i think the Katoka Coach values more Sawamura than Furuya since now Furuya is way to inconsistent. For some reason he was relegated to relief pitcher, while Sawamura is the starting pitch.

Zzzz.... Can you "read"? Miyuki says what you say he says, "continuing" after he says "If you can't be in your top shape"....

Read the 2 pages before that... What Miyuki says is for 3 pages... Do you know what IF means? IF? IF IF IF.... lol It means, IF Furuya is in best position, then he will start.

You don't think the team thinks of Sawamura as a "relief pitcher".... You think Katoka Coach values Sawamura more than Furuya....

But the matter of the fact is Furuya is the Ace!!!! And Katoka's the one who made him the Ace!!!!

On the other hand, 1 time, Furuya started, and the plan was for Sawamura to take over from the beginning of 6th inning.
They told (promised) Sawamura, he can pitch from the 6th inning.
But Furuya "spoiled brat" asks Katoka, to "keep pitching" cause he's the Ace, which Katoka says "keep going"
Then Sawamura comes, and "complains" (cause he was promised, the plan was set) to pitch.... which Katoka replies "bluntly" "You're just a relief..." "Your duty is to be 'ready'; that is all"...(basically saying Sawamura has no "rights" as the team member of this team)

I would have left this sh!t team, if i was Sawamura. But he has no pride, and can still keep going even though everyone hates him... Huray for him.

Even that kid with the pink hair, doesn't associate with Sawamura anymore... I though like they were friends and what not... But even he doesn't like Sawamura; who else likes Sawamura?

The only person, i know that is "okay" to Sawamura is "Chris"... But he's long gone...

To be honest. Almost everyone likes sawamura. The way they treat sawamura by constantly calling him idiot and stuff has become second nature to them and to sawamura himself. They say these things because they like him. The 2nd and 3th years definetly don't see sawamura just as a relief pitcher just as little as they see kawakami as just a relief pitcher. The 1st years have yet to proparly meet sawamura but as you can see in the latest chapters they are starting to see sawamura's true nature. Sawamura is who he is because he joined seidou and stayed their. His rivarly with Furuya is what is making him so good. Although I would prefer more Sawamura time I think everything is progressing nicely.

To be honest, almost no one likes Sawamura.

"Second nature".... "They call him idiot, cause they like him"... Are you a masochist? One of those people who likes being "punished" and called "names", and "ridiculed" and likes it? What in the world....
That pink hair kid used to associate with Sawamura, but ever since he hit that 1 Home run, he doesn't even look at Sawamura any more.

First of all, Kawakami IS a relief pitcher.... But on the second hand; if the team had to let either Sawamura go or Kawakami go; they would let Sawamura go. Because Kawakami's "low" pitches are supposed to be "less risky". He's more consistent. And also, even if the hitters get used to Kawakami's pitches and hit them, they won't be hitting any home runs; cause they're "low"...

"Sawamura is who he is because he joined seidou and stayed there"... Really? The only 2 people that really helped are Chris and that Chubby Coach. Chris is gone, he wasn't even part of Seidou team, when Sawamura came in (he was injured and just "helped out", wasn't part of the team). That Chubby Coach wasn't even trying to help Sawamura, he just gave "hints" for like Sawamura's "change up".... So Sawamura can realize that he can't do it (well, he can, to his surprise but...)... But Sawamura did it... It's pretty much, all Sawamura's own effort.

On the other hand, if Sawamura wasn't on the team; the team would have never went to last Koshien, they would have lost their coach (cause he would have left); and basically become one of those school that "used to be good"... But "not anymore".
Probably, the Chubby coach would have made a "Furuya no Ace" team... and he would have groomed Furuya, so at least in his senior year, he accomplishes some... But they probably never would have won Koshien, even if Furuya became the "best pitcher in Japan"... Cause you need a "good team" to win Koshien, not just a "good pitcher".

The first year kids... The "midget" (the short one that's chasing Furuya) already caught for Sawamura (he mentions how hard Sawamura's throws are going to be); but he's still not "impressed", he's not being all like "oh, Sawamura's the best pitcher on this team, even though he's not the Ace. I'm going to follow him and learn from him"... Instead he's chasing Furuya, even if Furuya tells him "you're not good enough to catch for me" and all that....

Okumura might turn into a "new Christ". Then he will become the "new" "only one" on the team that "kind of" respects Sawamura.

Well, the tallish kid with the glasses don't really think badly of Sawamura either. So, i guess there's 2 of them... Hurray?...

I completly agree on the part where you say that without sawamura they would never have made it this far. But wat about Kanemaru. He often expresses annoyence for sawamura but we have seen in the anime and manga that he does have quite a bit respect for Sawamura just he doesn't like showing it to him. It will probably be Sawamura x Okumura Battery vs Miyuki/yui x Furuya. And I have a good feeling that Sawamura's battery with Okumura will dominate Furuya's since Furuya has reverted back to his old self. But I still think that miyuki's leading when catching for sawamura has helped sawamura a great deal. Even in the latest manga chapter Miyuki says in the off season he and sawamura have been testing all the different grips to see which ones work best.

And no I'm not a masochist. Just watching the anime and now reading the manga everyone calls Sawamura idiot even the girl (Wakana) who is in love with him. So sometimes I got the vibe from this show that when they called him an idiot they said it because they grew accustomed to it and not because they didn't like him. I don't know maybe I'm the only one who got that vibe you cleary didn't haha. nevertheless I do respect your opinion.

is Kanemaru that "fast runner"? The one that always "steals" bases? Well yeah, he only fights Sawamura, cause Sawamura keeps calling him a "cheetah" and what not... So it's not disrespect...

I don't remember Wakana ever calling or even thinking Sawamura was an idiot... She is also one of the people who respect Sawamura... But she's not on the team...

Yes, there is "that side" where they call him idiot, cause of "familiarity". But like when Sawamura is shouting in the "sand pit"?(the place where they practice pitches, on the side of the field; is that called sand pit?); then when they tell him to "Shut Up"... It seems reasonable, cause Sawamura's actually being annoying...

But a lot of times, more than necessary, the "shut up"'s will include vibes like "you are not part of the game, so stay out of it"... "you are not part of this, so stay out"...

So yes, while Furuya pitching or the other guy; Sawamura's technically not "playing" and all that... But it has that "vibe" saying "Sawamura" is "unnecessary". Basically saying, the team without Sawamura would be better off.

And i hate this vibe, because "without" Sawamura, they wouldn't be where they are. So at least respect him in that manner, and keep it down a notch, even if Sawamura was actually being annoying... I think he deserves that...

Also, i note, Sawamura is STILL #18. So, the "last" person on the team (out of 18 people). Meaning, if the team ever wanted to get 1 more player, Sawamura would be the first person to get kicked out of the team.
Sawamura's number shows how the team treats him; which is the farthest thing away from a "fair treatment".

No that's not kanemaru you're talking about Kuramochi. Kanemaru is same year als Sawamura. He's the guy he keeps hitting when he's practicing his pitches xD. And yeah I get where you are comming from. Sometimes you wonder wether or not Sawamura is the MC in this story. However I still read/watch it because of him. I do like that partly he isn't overpowered because I like to see the work he has to put in to improve.

But yeah Sawamura growing really fast right now. And consider this Furuya got the ace number while sawamura was in a slump (Yips couldn't pitch inside). Furuya is reverting to his state where he thinks him being the best means the team being the best. But tha'ts not even half true. When Sawamura pitches you feel a different vibe comming from the team. I'm like 80% sure Sawamura will become the Ace by end year 2 / begin year 3. Next match Sawamura is allowed to start because of Furuya's change. So maybe his change will mean Furuya ending in a slump and Sawamura overtaking the ace roll.
