It doesn't make sense for him to be Eren father, when he first appeared he was surprised by the human made tech he saw. I don't think he was ever a human, he is probably just a completely different species.

Whoops sorry, didn't read the OP, just replied to the title directly. The basement will probably have his research, he is one of the scientist that contributed to making the titans by the orders of the church or something like that.

Not like we will know anyway, I bet it will take a year until we reach the basement, ughh.

The Monkey Titan probably belongs to an unknown faction...

Right now, he serves as B.R.A's GPS to go home.... until Erwin and the Survey Corps curbstopped their plans and chapter 49 happens :P.

I believe they said somewhere in the manga that it was 'responsible for the havoc this time around', or something along those lines. Since previously the Female Titan brought in the Titans, King Kong may be either her replacement, or an important individual coming to assess the situation.
Seeing as he is intelligent, tossed a rock at Nanaba's crew and also met with Mike, I'm sure he will be very important. Ymir brought him up saying that Bertholdt and Reiner were staring at him, even if they didn't seem to notice.
What I'm extremely curious about is how a person would have to look in order to transform into a monkey-like Titan. If the Titans support the theory of evolution, they're doing it wrong.

It could be simply a different "form" of titan. Maybe the reason why Eren's form looks so similar to standard titans is that Grisha had only just created the "titan forula" whilst others had been using it and perfecting it for a while. The monkey titan could just be a shifters advanced form.

I believe Eren's father holds the truth behind everything. He might even be the one who sent Reiner and Bertholdt to get Eren.

I don't think he sent Berty and Reiner, he was crying and praying that Mikasa, Eren and Carla were all okay after wall Maria was breached. That and how he was so adamant that Eren must retake wall Maria and get to the basement.
I do believe he does know what is going on though, maybe not the truth about everything. But I do think he has a good grasp on the whole situation, especially compared to Eren and the others.

Well, we most likely won't know until they reach the damned basement. Either way, I'm intrigued by this beast Titan (wonder how his voice sounds) and anticipate the next time he will appear, even if it will most likely be as chaotic as his first appearance.

Something is not right. Now I am re-watching anime. In the first episode people were talking that last invasion was 100 years ago, in the same time Grisha went to "his trip" to take care [binside the walls. Somehow in the anime after few minutes there was a Bertholdt which caused first break of the wall Shiganshina, he just kicked it off and made a large hole in the wall. What is my point?
My point is that Eren with his family was living in the territory of Shiganshina district, after Grisha dissapeared then Bertholdt appeared, so my guess is Grisha went somewhere nearby in the territory of Shiganshina district and by knowing RB somehow he injected serum to them and then he dissapeared.
Look at this:

Reiner mentioned "Why did you come to our territory?" Following this now there is a speculation, if Grisha didn't put serum into them and he didn't meet them in the Shiganshina district then how the hell did he sneak out from the walls? Not to mention that Bertholdt did transform right in front of the gates - he was there like few meters away from the wall. So why didn't the titans devour him as well? Does it mean that they live near the walls or if Grisha somehow sneaked out (but how?) outside Shiganshina district how he wasn't devoured? Think about it calmly, we do see the transformation and it happened few minutes later after Grisha dissapeared from his house. Hope you do know what I mean. This is not a coincidence.

He says it's inner, but even if those are inner walls it makes him even more suspicious, he must know RB and who knows if Anie (she didn't make an apperance in the first episode) so my guess is that he injecte the serum to them. RB mentioned (in the anime) that they are from Wall Maria which means they are from inside unless they were lying because they must have sneaked out somehow from the walls unnoticed.

Later on think about his meeting with Eren after the Wall Marie has been breached - Grisha must have known about the breached wall so it gives more hints that somehow he has to know RB by any chance. Look here:

Peace

people may or may not agree, i read some of the manga and read up to chapter 53, the Ape titan could be his Grisha jaeger. but with the human titans going on and on about being warriors of a village and Grisha going missing the day the titans attacked, i think Grisha is at their village, told the titans to capture Eren and his family to bring to him, but the plan goes tits up and his mum dies, if it is not any of this, it may be that Eren's titan half is his dad trying to destroy humanity with Eren's body but Eren takes control after some time in the titan

I've always thought that it could be Eren's uncle. Guy looks just like Greisha.
