I've realised this is really obvious so don't bother reading

Professor Gary Oak here with a PhD in Gintama. I've studied Gintama for 10 years now, and I have a theory to Gintama's high score and absolute domination in the top 10.

The Theory: Natural selection breeds higher Gintama scores. The more Gintama seasons the higher score they get because it's fans who survive rate it highly.

Gintama (First Season)
Watching: 61,012
Completed: 76,602
On-Hold: 34,099
Dropped: 14,946
Percentage of people who rated it 10: 40%

Gintama' (Follow Up Season)
Watching: 10,601
Completed: 56,503
On-Hold: 4,194
Dropped: 2,300
Percentage of people who rated it 10: 52%

The reason for the increase in (10) ratings are because there are fewer people who watched it(usually fans), but they rate it highly. The people who didn't like it were quickly killed off in the first season(people who dropped it). The people who come out and thus continue to watch it rate it higher because they liked some part of the show and were able to sit through all of it. The more seasons of Gintama, the higher score as people who don't like the show are eliminated.

What do you think? What is the secret of success behind Gintama and does it deserve so?

“Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth. But the world isn't perfect, and the law is incomplete..." -Alphonse Elric

"Then and now, what I protect has never changed!" -Sakata Gintoki

I'll take anything like The Pet Girl of Sakurasou. Anything as good as that.

“The greatest crimes in the world are not committed by people breaking the rules but by people following the rules. It's people who follow orders that drop bombs and massacre villages.” -Bansky
