The show doesn't even both to explain the basic rules of the game — but somehow it's still enjoyable. sorta depends on your fansubs i think i know Underwater explained all the yakus and the more difficult mahjong terms such as isshoten and even tenpai and FFF did a joint with Underwater for the later seasons as well. Mahjong is pretty easy though, you have 13 tiles and draw a 14th so your hand is 14 tiles, then all you need to do is make 4 sets of three and a pair. In japanese mahjong, you need a win condition as well which is called a yaku, which sorta makes making winning hands a bit "skilled" base. Like winning without using any Honor tiles and 1s and 9s or using only Honors and 1s and 9s and the list goes on. Just understand, 4 sets of three (a sequence or a three of a kind) and a pair is the basic goal. Some hands have special things such a 7 pairs or yakuman (Super special winning hands that are super hard to get) which is like one of every tile. |
