| It's the mentality of growth and overcoming defeat. In large part it's so acceptable because for every sports team that is in the show's demographic and is on a hot streak, there are a handful of other teams acting as their stepping stones and needing something to pick them up. Defeat can be easier to milk for progression in general, really. |

| Because winning all the time without fail Is the formular to an entertaining suspenseful story, because losing Is for losers and we don't want to watch losers lose. That's just lame. Sports anime In which the main protagonist loses should just generally not be made. |

| What is this climactic game? Is it the final match of the series? From my experience, MC team losing in the first match or tournament is a common thing. It's typical. If you're a fan, you should've known that. The team overcome it and later get their revenge. Isn't it much more rewarding that way? |

| Winning is easy. Losing is hard. It's when we lose that we have to overcome feelings of self-doubt, self-hatred, or anger at the world in general. It's far more interesting to explore that and it's far more dramatic. Ikki loses a lot in Medabots and these make for the more powerful moments. |

| To be honest... I'm tired of teams losing after making it all the way to the finals or semi-finals. If it were me, I'd have them lose early on or I'd have them lose even more. Hell, let's get rid of the knock-out system. I mean, with a knock-out system, if a team loses, then that guarantees that they will not lose again. That shit sucks. |
