I thought that people only hated Naruto, because so many fans of it claimed it was the 'best anime ever'... which it isn't.

I like the way you think. 200+ is just stupid.

of course..
Nothing wrong with /long/ anime like monster. Not a moment wasted. (noticed your monster sig :D)

I noticed a few people say stuff like this.

when you have to skip episodes in an anime, even a single one, you are not fully experiencing it!
you have to be kidding me..
It just bothers me when people say "oh yeah I skipped 100 eps, pretty good show". Shit like that bothers me more than the devout narutard, because at least they watch what they love

....Who wants to experience filler? I got ALL the stuff that the mangaka intended for me to see, so I experienced the full thing.

Also...curious question. If someone thinks Naruto is the best anime ever...isn't that their right? Everyone's getting so annoyed about it and I'm not getting it. My friends put Naruto in their Top Five and I don't really care.

I liked Naruto... before I watched the fillers (I haven't even seen that many of the fillers, to be honest).
I got so bored from them that I just dropped the series entirely and decided that it wasn't really good at all. (with exception to the chuunin exams arc)

What I'm saying is that some people claim that Naruto is the best animé ever, having not seen anything other than Naruto and DBZ et cetera, and they claim that it's better than what others like. On a few other boards you would get flamed if you said a bad word about Naruto... I hate that. It doesn't annoy me if you like Naruto, but I find it stupid that one can claim that it is the best animé ever, having not seen much else. Think what you like; each to their own after all.

Actually white people that are obsessed with japanese culture are classed weeaboo, now for simply a person that likes Japanese things a weeaboo that does not make. And I believe you did not read my post correctly, I was stating a weeaboo is also an alternative to the term narutard, which is 90% used for a person that is obsessed with Naruto, thus making said person a weeaboo if they are white, notice how I did not direct the word weeaboo to anyone in my post, your eyes only saw the word weeaboo and assumed it was a direct insult on someone when you posted, you assumed before you read the simple sentence out. gg no re

Also saying Desu does not make you anything close to anon, you may think otherwise but it doesn't.

well i guess you have a point with regards to people who like japanes culture not being weeaboo. i dont know what anon is but DESU! to you.

ive seen you have this argument with people they get offended at the term weeaboo and narutard its derogatory and borders on racism since you tend to single out 'white' people as being weeaboo so i assumed nothing since in the avatar post it got quite heated at one point and the thread got cut

basically i guess im saying that so far in your posts you haven't made CLEAR that liking japan and its culture dose not make you weeaboo but you have done this now so i understand a little better where you come from

i too dislike overly fanatic naruto fans since naruto aint the best anime out there but narutards and weeaboo is a bit much for the reasons i stated earlier. people get offended if they feel they are being labeled especially with something derogatory

you do tend to bring up the term weeaboo a bit much

Anon are those that created the DESU meme from Rozen Maiden off one 4koma panel about Rozen Maiden

Weeaboo can only be used for a white person, its a simplified term of the word Wapanese, which is a combination of White and Japanese. Yes a person of a non-asian or Japanese race can have the traits of a weeaboo but the term weeaboo can't be used for them, japan-ophile would be more appropriate. The W is there for a reason.

I've used the term here in about 4 or so threads, I calls one when I sees one. Yes I haven't made it clear what exactly makes a weeaboo. See you can tell a person is a weeaboo or japanophile more than one way, such as if they act as though anime is the only thing made and the only thing in the Japan, which is usually a younger weeaboo's point of view.

Usually when you call someone a narutard or any thing of the sort, your goal is to offend said person because its fun and to show your dislike for said person.

And that is the end of that OT post

Elitist dictionary? Anon started the use of that term, anon started many terms and memes many use today. Scream weeaboo, like your hunting one, see how effective it sounds? Theres a panel that was created when the term was first created, I'll post it later.

I hate Naruto because I don't like the characters (definately not the main...), its' overrated, too many fangirls and fanboys, so many forums/sites about Naruto Naruto Naruto and I hate it because I think it's goddamn childish.

What I hate most of all is that people say that Naruto is the best anime ever made.

And on top of it, there's gazillions of people named Uzumizaki Naruto in MMORPGs, Sasuke, Uchicha Sasuke, geez, I even save an Uchicha Carlos some days ago.

Something I read says "The three teenagers in hooded black outfits were scampering over rooftops, climbing trees "just like a squirrel," and breaking into houses and cars, police said.....the teenagers used a stolen credit card to buy, online, costumes and equipment such as hand-climbing spikes, metal throwing stars and utility belts."

Personally, I don't hate Naruto (the show)... I just hate Naruto the character. He annoys me to no end... the only character that has ever annoyed me more is Kazuma from Scryed. I stopped watching Naruto because I realized that I was more interested in other characters who weren't getting enough screen time in my opinion (Neji, Lee, Gaara) than the actual main character Naruto... and also because I never forgave them for killing Haku! Oh, and my inability to sustain interest in long series might have had something to do with it, too.

[rant*?*]<-Is not really sure...^^;

It's not that I don't like it, its the crazy fans that I don't like.

Okay, so I have an anime club at my school that my sis and I started. Basically if it weren't for us, we wouldn't have one. It's been going for three years now. Every year we get new people, The ninth graders. And every year they are ALL obsessed with only ONE anime. This year its Naruto. They know nothing about any other one, I swear. And then you have all the girls who are so obsessed that they call each other by their favorite characters. AND NONE OF THEM HAVE ANY FEMALE NAMES. Those poor male characters.

The seniors of my club *including me and my sis* are scared that some day they'll be running the club. It won't be up for much longer for the fact that no one except the seniors in the club watch other anime not put on American television.

Absolute total screw-age. T^T

If only it wasn't put on American tv, then we wouldn't have so much of a problem. But, what can you do. I'm just afraid that we'll lose the "Narutards" and gain "Kira's followers". Poor Death note. That Will be the new obsession. *cries for the anime and manga*

I have a theory, it might only pertain to me, but here goes:

I tend to steer away from popular animes, the more popularity the show has the less interest i seem to have in it. that is not always the case, and if its a good show its a good show regardless of the fan popularity.

then theres also the run-on. sometimes u just need to kill a show off. now naruto had a hell of a run, and God knows what episode i stopped on, tripple digits somewhere. anycase, just like dragonball, naruto, and inuyasha, sometimes u just have to let the show go. 30 thousand seasons does not make a great show, it beats the show into the ground. perhaps repeatidly dissapointing the fans in the process. know when to end a show.

character development. too many characaters all at once does not make good practice. theres hundreds of characters in this show, and not much background behind any. why do they act certain ways, why do they do this, and that...

lastly, filler episodes. if you dont have any material that week for a show, end it untill you do have some material. i dont know about the rest of the population, but i hate having every detail and episode explained, prime example, yu gi oh. every episode they took 10 minutes to fill everyone in on what was happening. recaps are fine. episodes that are the recap are a waste of my time. and naruto likes to push that button.

ill shut it for now. and please pardon the spelling errors, most of you can figure out, if not all, what i mean.

Why do they hate Naruto? 3 "reasons" come to mind:

1. It's mainstream/popular: I'm sorry, but I find that a poor excuse. One shouldn't hate something simply because it is popular.
2. It's fanbase: which is indeed full over-obsessive and immature brats (but not EVERY fan is like that).
3. Fillers: Yes, there are a ridiculous amount of fillers, I will agree, but the last 50 or so can be easily skipped...(and I like fillers D:)

I actually really enjoy the series; it's characters, their relationships and developments...I think it's awesome, but I will admit that I don't think it's as brilliant as so many people make it out to be. I just don't understand why so many people have to hate it just because it's popular or has a bad fanbase.

Anyone that dislikes it simply because it's something that doesn't "click" with them (for lack of better way to put it) gets my instant respect...it's just a matter of finding one of those people D:

So it's okay to hate something if it just doesn't click with you?

I think it'd make sense to dislike it for such a reason. But there's no need to put such a strong reason for such a subjective feeling (unless it really rubs you the wrong way). This is a matter of severity of the subjective feeling though.

And fillers, if watched, can really ruin an anime. Since many viewers give a lot of attention to the story, building up a proper world that continues to progress can be very important. (This is true for myself as well, which is what has resulted in a poor rating for naruto on my list).

i think...now stop me if you dissagree...but...i think that, because Naruto is mainstream it almost opens it up to people who are NOT otaku and that gets people like us upset cos well we was watchin anime whens thems was all in diappers 4CHAN 4EVER!!

then the little naruto freaks go around saying IM OTAKU!!! blah. its sort of like...well having your interests and passions reduced to 12 year old pop cultures(I HATE POP CULTURE MTV is the sux) and such talking about HOW awsome naruto is and doing hand seals even though they no nothing about Kuji-In and Kuji-Kiri...it pisses me off no end... then your like ok ok do you know GUYVER!!! or akira or code gease or Gundam wing or any old school anime and they say somthing like 'er those are rubbish crap naruto is much better'

*sigh* anyway i slap em round the head tell em to f*** off and go about my day

but as an ANIME based purley on it merrits as an ANIME it fails to deliver what it promised so it is fail

Isn't that a rather arrogant manner of thought? Or shallow in another way. If, just because of narutards, some people begin associating people interested with anime with those stupid 13 year old boys that are the ones to use drop bots or the like on internet games just to piss other people off, are we to take their ignorant judgements seriously?

That doesn't just go for the anime subculture, but any such subculture. We're all ignorant to a point, otherwise we would be sacrificing a lot of potential knowledge. (For instance, taking a fact, you don't always go and back it up, because if you had to do so every time then in the end you'd just end up re-enacting every single experiment, which is surely impossible for even the basic types of knowledge used to live.)

I mean, the hackers are a perfect example. After a single misleading news broadcast people started to associate the name "Hacker" with the 13 year old losers who spend their days breaking systems just for fun. While the name quite literally refered to those who found "clever fixes" to fix systems, rather than to break into them. And I'll admit that for such a widespread ignorance the Hacker community suffered a lot of pain.

In either case, I've run on a bit of a tangent...

I just agree that hating Naruto just because of the 'narutards' is an illegitimit reason.

Feh, explaining things well isn't my strong point, though I suppose what I should have said was that it's ok to dislike something simply because you don't like it; not everyone has a reason for liking or disliking something (I've found that a few times myself over the years).

People can have a reason though as long as it's a decent reason, I'm just sick of seeing the same poor excuses over and over again.

If the fanbase sucks, just concentrate on the series (this is what I do with Sonic nowadays).

Popularity? It does not effect the actual series' quality. Those that complain about how it's everywhere really need to learn tolerance. There have been PLENTY of popular things that I have disliked in my life but I have learnt to ignore them.

Fillers? Ignore them. Skip them. etc. Just note that there actually are a couple of people that enjoy fillers and understand that they are there for a reason (it's just that they should have spread these out more in the series instead of group more than 50 together...then again, when buying the DVD's you could just skip out on these eps...). They may be distracting for those that are so into the plot, but I personally am more of a character person (as I mentioned in my previous post) so luckily for me fillers don't effect me at all ^_^;

I believe there is another poor "reason" in there too: Length. Too long for you? Fine then, but that's no reason to say it sucks like your opinion is the right one. <--None of this is directed at you personally by the way ^^;

While I like the series, I think it's not quite deserving of the "Best Anime Ever" title. For me, it gets an 8/10.

It's true that if I skipped the filler episodes, my rating for naruto would probably be higher than it is.

i think you may have missundersyood what i was saying but perhaps i did not make it clear

title of topic is: why do people hate naruto?

i mereley offered a reason as to why people, otaku in particular dont like naruto.

possibly beause of so called 'narutards' a term i find offensive because its derogatory in general, and weeaboo, i think these terms are ingnorant in themselves.

i base my dislike for naruto as an anime on its merits as an anime nothing more...the quality of animtion visably drops week to week the story is not progessive enough filler is ok i dont mind watching naruto going on a mission to find a book or whtever but in general the story is quite lame.

also the KUJI-IN and KUJI-KIRI hand seals which naruto is based on is a very ancient and old buddhist ritual and is almost watered down and defiled...anyway..its sort of good because it expose that part of culture but then you do have people running around saying CHIDORI copying the seals but not understanding the meaning and that dose upset me because its just another western rape..

.in japan they are raised to know KUJI-IN an KUJI-KIRI like a westerner would know the lords prayer so to put it in context its like somone else saying

halowed man of white beard holy mary i hear by summon your lighting power

its disrespectfull its ignorant and its a double edged sword because on one hand you will reach people who will say wow these seals are ancient i must learn and respect theses traditions and then you get the baka who will runn around trying to cast genjitsu

and thats just another reason why 'people' may dislike naruto

anyway

rant over soz ^_^

Why do ppl hate Naruto

Because they're retarded, I mean if you don't like a show just don't watch it.

To the people who say that the show is overrated, that's your opinion, some people like it and some don't, like some people like pepsi and some like coca cola^^

And to the people who say that the ones who like naruto are idiots just fuck you I mean get a life don't you anything better to do than calling people idiots just because they like a anime that you don't like if they're happy watching it than let them watch it.

And yeah I like naruto(including fillers) does that make me an idiot? if it does it says more about you than it says about me...

well probably because, when a lot of people are too obsessed with it, they don't like it
I'm also kind of like that but I still love it! :D

hmmm I don't really hate it but I also don't really like it. Mostly due to all the filler, its just to damn long, style isn't one of my favorites, reminds me to much of DBZ and I hate DBZ :P, and the obsession with Sasuke. The only reason I'll watch is if I'm bored, Gaara is on, and/or one of my friends hipped out some ep.

I was really hopping that Shippenden would be darker and a bit more adult. It sort of is but not the extend that I was hoping for.

The reason is mostly because Naruto is very mainstream. Everybody has watched Naruto, and then people automagicly dislike it. Its very "cool" to dislike mainstream stuff.
Also, Naruto has extremely many fillers, and the series just drop and drop in quality. I think the 145 eps were really good, but after that, it kinda dapped out for me. I still read the manga though, for whatever reason :P

Most of the posts I've read here people are dissing all of Naruto because they don't like the main character in orange. All you people forget, he is supposed to be a 13 yr. old boy. What's so annoying about him? Is he annoying because he has a desire to prove himself and wants to be viewed as an equal and as not someone who is being looked down on?

Any one who grows up with problems wants to prove their worth. Naruto never really got any talent or friends because everyone viewed him as an outsider, thanks to their parents. Since he had the Demon Fox spirit inside him they didn't want anyone talking to him.

Most people don't like the story because of one character? That's pretty shallow. It's unique, and uses ideas that no one has ever seen before. I think it's great!

Last time I checked, after time skip Naruto was 15 or 16. And Naruto didnt have talentsl, he had latent DEM in the form on the 9 tails. And I think most people who hate Naruto don't hate it because of Naruto. The manga isnt even about Naruto anymore, its about Sasuke and friends, Kishimoto said recently that in 2008 he will "focus on sasuke" which is a pretty pathetic thing to say considering Naruto hasnt had a major appearence in like 50 chapters.

Also, I'd like to know what these supposed "unique ideas" are that Naruto uses.

Personally I hate Naruto because its never ending shonen crap, nothing is ever resolved, people rarely(if ever) die(although they do die in Naruto, nothing is resolved), storyline arcs stretch out for eons, earlier plot points don't mean anything later on etc.

Naruto has been getting talents. The ability to use Rasengan is a feat in itself.

You want unique ideas? I think the use of jutsus by hand-seals and the explination of Chakra is good enough to be called unique. Ninjas in clans with their symbols on fore-head protectors is also cool. Maybe it bores you, but everyone has something that they dig.

Yeah, Naruto isn't just about Naruto. As it shouldn't be. It is called Naruto because he is the main character.

Naruto isn't exactly about resolution it's the development and journey of a bunch of friends. Naruto has so many arcs and side stories because there are many characters, so the creator gives the viewers a bit of information about everyone.

People don't die because Naruto isn't about death. Someone doesn't have to pass on to make something interesting.

What do you mean by "never ending Shonen crap"?
