It's been like two weeks since chapter 396, so I'm wondering what the hold up is with 397?

Apparently no one has the raw. It not just the english scans the chinese version is also delayed which is what I heard Manga Panda uses for their scans. The popular theories are chaos from the Obon and shipping is delayed or a crack down on scanlators who buy the magazine before the release date. Here is where I heard this.

^ I thought about that whole anti-piracy thing that had to do with it as well. Apparently Magi scans will be delayed as well until Wednesday I think.

As long as I can still get the chapters I don't care to wait a bit longer cause Chinese and RAWs usually come out 3 or 4 days in advance of the release dates.

Yeah Roloko looks like it was the anti-piracy. It was not just Fairy Tail and the magazine it runs in another magazine looks like it shipped late trying to stop scanlators by shipping later. http://ajerzaaddict.tumblr.com/post/95643320844/psa-in-regards-to-raws-for-both-wss-and-wsm-series#notes They mention Magi as well. This might be the new norm, Fairy Tail is the only weekly released manga I fellow so it does not affect me that much as long as I can read it.

Well looks like we have to get used to change. At least Crucnhyroll has Fairy Tail and the newest chapters are free I think now its only a day behind on illegal scans instead of 4 days.

FT Mondays and Magi Wednesdays instead of FT and Magi Fridays. Dx

This isn't going to stop piracy cause there isn't many legal means for manga like anime, but at least they can make (probably) better sales by doing this so good for them.

We'll see if it continues for a week or 2 thats probably what it is. Japan did pass that law to try and stop it, won't work you can't stop piracy only slow it down until it changes methods.

I don't think it will increase sales to much anime and manga is an expensive hobby. I know I can't afford it if anything if by a small chance it did work and scanlator shut down completely it would only backfire. Anime would be fine maybe increase and manga sales in Japan might benefit but manga outside, like you said "there isn't many legal means for manga like anime" Physically/hard copy, ebook or Crunchyroll. Did I miss any?

A good deal learned they liked manga though the free scanlators and then chose to pay either Crunchyroll, ebooks or hard copies though the first two have small categories and the third would take up shelf space imagine having several long running hard copies in small homes or apartments. I hear about the small amoat I have in my room " look at this small fortunate in this books you have! Why don't you sell them get some money and then it will stop taking up space." Hard to get into, expensive and not many options this 3 together are a bad combo would decrease interest. Only mainstream titles that have an anime adaptation or are so popular you can't help but hear about would sale well to make a profit.

Perhaps if Crunchy keeps expanding and another site starts having manga and having it free for a while so people can gain interest test the water to see if they like it than maybe. Also you can't read the earlier chapters I don't have a subscription but I can see that they don't have them some people might want to read from the beginning.

Actually manga is cheaper in Japan than in the US. On Amazon jp each volume of Fairy Tail is around 450~480 yen which is roughly $4/$5 and its even cheaper used like $1. Its the shipping thats expensive not the actual material if one imports. Its a cheaper hobby in Japan than anime and figurine collecting.

Interesting info but I saying more of stopping them from pirating too if it is free and on the net some of them might decided to save a few bucks. Look at sites like senmanga raw chapters or on nya hole untranslated volumes for download. Sorry I'm really bad at explain thing and what I mean well.

Man I wish it was a cheaper here even a little space would be the only issue than. One or two volumes wouldn't be bad I even got up to 5 & 6 but anything over I can't do. Anime is more expensive there though right? I heard of them importing blu-ray from here and dvds from Europe.

Yes its $60 for 2 or 3 episodes on DVD and $80 for Bluray. This is why series like Fairy Tail runs on TV ratings instead of disk sales. Same goes for all long running shounen series.

Thats why we have to wait a couple years to see any release over here in America to combat reverse importation cause if we released the same time as the companies did with our dirt cheap prices per 12 episodes then the Japanese companies wouldn't make a profit let alone break even.
