The topic says it all, throughout the novels after the Aincrad arc, Asuna is becoming less and less involved with the exception of Mother's Rosario. Do you think she's under developed as a character?

Little, if no, development. She actually developed backwards from a badass and mysterious character to a semi-tsundere.

Should she even count as a character? She is a sexual object

Is that all that matters is looks? Seems like you're watching anime for the wrong reasons.

Funny enough, technically she got the most development. It was just all handled in such a half-assed way that no one can take it seriously (and the majority is off-screen).

Lets take a look shall we.

1st point - Starts off pretty insecure and uncertain, then finds her inner strength
2nd point - Gets a little carried away with her strength and takes everything too seriously, then learns how to enjoy life a little more with Kirito
3rd point - In the process of learning to enjoy life, she also develops weakness once again by becoming overly reliant on Kirito's well being
4th point - Even though she develops weakness as well, she develops a different kind of strength by wanting to be relied on by kirito.
5th point - I guess we could count the yui arc as development, because it showed how fragile a person she really is.
6th point - Becomes so fragile after this event (I guess?) that she has no reason to go on living if Kirito happens to die.
7th point - Her character loses all meaning after this. She is now relegated to Kirito's cheerleader.

So no I wouldn't say she is under-developed, as much as under-utilized. But so is every character that isn't Kirito. Probably due to the fact that story is just being dragged out and I doubt any of the story arcs were planned after Aincrad.

Just about all the girls are sexual objects.
And I mean that in the most sexually painful way possible.

Yup you are right, she gets less and less attention lately. However, I think she is well developed, especially if you include Progressive series and MR. I believe she will get even more attention in Progressive next volumes.

I love her, anyways. :P

To be perfectly honest, I think Reki lacks experience with developing female characters.

ALL female characters in SAO "stop developing" after a certain point. To hide this lack of development, those characters are then swept under the rug while another female character (or equivalent) takes the spotlight.

This series has become a joke. It tries too hard to be a Highschool DxD and fails miserably. I feel so sorry for Asuna, the series made her look a damsel in distress then a damsel in waiting while her boyfriend cheats on her. Of course she doesn't deserved it but that's a series. Apparently, you cannot have one main girl in a Manga or Anime series anymore.

The series should have ended in Aincrad arc without all the other sh*t added to it to make it longer. Even the story now has become stale, something hyperfans can't seem to see.

She should dissapear, she was already swallowed by the immense gravitational pull of Kirito's dick. Her arc is over. Now she must give in her screentime for characters that are actuallly good(SINON, Sinon and Sinon) That is the fate of all magical girls.

Well, she doesnt have a lot of curves.... Maybe her mom didnt have alot of curves either. Probably genetics. Or maybe she needs to eat more.

Now, the cousin-formerly-known-as-sister, now she is very well-developed. Probably genetics.

She's developed into a pretty good waifu and trophy; so that's got to count for something right?
