Should I still watch Clannad even after finding out Nagisa and Ushio die? I also know they get revived so is there any point? I watched the first season up until episode 9 when I took a long break from. Should I continue?

I don't really see the point in watching any further.
Season 1 are some random, boring tasks and season 2 builds up some kind of relationship between Nagisa en Tomoya that gets crushed in the end, and then with some Deus Ex Machina they come back and everyone lives happy afterwards.
You know how it's gonna turn out, so yeah.
There are some funny scenes, but I don't think that's worth watching almost 2 full seasons.

It is one of the best anime shows ever made. I have rewatched Negisa's death scene many times and it still moves me. The journey is important. Suggest that you go on.

it is a shame you got spoil. Clannad is an anime masterpiece
Power itself must be abolished -and not solely because of a refusal to be dominated, wich is at the heart of all traditional struggles- but also, just as violently, in the refusal to dominate. Intelligence cannot, can never be in power because intelligence consist of this double refusal.

I only watched the first season, but it was more about the character interactions and relations along the way than it was about the ending. So you would be missing out if you were previously enjoying it.

Hmmm, I'm biased because I personally find Clannad enjoyable despite watching it 4 times already. Having the ending spoiled maybe ruins the chance at having the best experience possible, but you should still enjoy it for what it is.

This also applies to any other media/medium/genre, really.

A friend of mine, who introduced me into watching Clannad, told me that if you want it to end and stay as a tragedy, you should watch it until Ushio dies and then leave it as an open ending. The first time I watched it, I did it that way. Even tho I knew what happens after, the experience is different and the feel is much more intense. I even like "this ending" more.

However, I think I should play the visual novel to see this ending properly.

Feel free to watch the movie, then. An ending that is sad, happy, and realistic at the same time. That said, I think if you truly like Clannad for what it is, you can appreciate all the endings it offers. Magic shouldn't really bother you, imo; not when there's a "Supernatural" tag, at least.

I've also watched it completely. I've wathced it like 3 times to be honest and it's a beautiful story.

Magic does not bother me, I love sci-fi. I must say I paid more attention to those moments with the robot in the "other world" than I did with most of the Anime. My only concern is how the Deus ex machina is executed. It could have been much better, although it wasn't enough to dissapoint me. I love Clannad.

My other comment was just directed to the impact that the tragedies cause you.

How so? Keep in mind it was VN first. If I understand it correctly, they wanted to tie in all the different paths together to make the final result feel like you did something worthwhile. If that were the case, then mission accomplished! The anime didn't leave out any details. You are told my Nagisa and other characters how the other world works and how the town is 'special'. I see no way it could have been better, unless you just wish for it to be different entirely.

I was spoiled about the exact same parts. But I still really enjoyed it and was moved by both scenes even though I knew it was coming.

I opened this thread thinking they were spoilers from the first season, but they were about After Story :(. So many people may got spoiled because of that.

Anyway, what I really want to say is that although I spoiled because of this thread, I started watching After Life. So although I knew what were coming, I didn't know how, when, where those will happen, and still enjoyed it, it still affected me emotionally.

So I think, anyone spoiled by those spoilers should just still watch it.
