Say, this is just hypothetical but imagine if a greater power (god, aliens, unicorns etc) appeared and gave humanity a choice, electricity or the lives of 1.9 billion children.

If we chose electricity, we would have the internet, power, basically everything that uses electricity but then 1.9 billion children would die.

What is the right choice? What are the pros and cons?

Source: Google search.
In 1960 we were 1 billion children below 15 years of age and we were 35% of the world population. Now there are 1,9 billion children in the world, but they are but 27% of world population. In 2050 there will still be an estimated 1.9 billion kids, but they will be only 20% of world population

EDIT: OKAY, IT SEEMS I MADE THIS DECISION A BIT TOO EASY FOR THE LOGICAL MINDED MAL USERS. NEW AND FINAL CONDITION: Along with electricity, the greater power curses humanity with 1 in every 10,000 births viable

Not so much world hunger or poverty which is nice, no need to spend so much money on childcare, since I'm not a child anymore I would chose the internet, afterall is much easier to make babies than to Invent and maintain internet and other forms of electricity to its full potential.

1.9 billion living beings suddenly dying will most certainly cause a viral outbreak of some sort I think

1.9 billion children dying sounds like an excellent idea for an anime adaptation. Electricity, thank you.

Well in all honesty besides the emotional impact and the reduction of future birth in the next 25 years I don't see anything that bad.... Even though that for at least the next 50 to 75 years there would be more old people than younger ones.

Still the gains from electricity would give us better living conditions, also last but not least even if 1.9 billion children died, since there was no electricity of sorts I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be that many meds to cure others, after all we need electricity to make medicine(Computers, labs and stuff)

If electricity would suddenly disappear, at least 1.9 billion people would starve because of food shortages. So there really is no other valid choice than electricity lol

Your post was not about saving energy. You talking about "much better and happier" life without electricity. If so, you should refuse to use it. Yep, while you posting here you use electricity. Are you hypocrite?

So, why can't we use electricity if we let the kids live?

Does it just cease all function or what?

Who cares about some children? Especially when compared to the limitless potential that electricity offers?

Its ridiculous of course I'll pick electricity to that of children who can just be crapped out thanks to our love of over breeding.

Electricity.

Without electricity everything would break down.

Also in the long run more people would die without it

You're so naive it hurts.
Current society relies on electricity on just about every aspect of our lives.

I suggest you crawl out of that cave once in a while go outside and see how electricity enables us to do the day to day things we do.
Our society would literally break down without it.

You living in Japan?
Talk to India and china about those "severly decreased birth rates" you'd be surprised if they don't try and shove a child down your pocket and force you to claim ownership for it.

Electricity of course. We'll just fuck some more to compensate for the 1.9 billion children who died.

Oh you're talking about the elctrical impulses the body generates, yeah nah. The great unicorn alien god wouldn't take away that! Only our ability to make electric things work

Hah! You can't receive this ability, but you can make more children. In fact 2*10^6 < 1%people on the Erath. Overpopulation crisis, you know.

Electricity.
We would free up a lot of space.
Possibly more people would be affected in the long run without electricity anyway.

I can see you
