Fairy Tail
| Why do they care if anime character X will be with Y? It doesn't give them any personal benefit. I would understand if it was an anime primarily centered around romance like Nisekoi. But Fairy Tail is mostly about action, comedy,etc. They is little to no romance, so why the huge following. Pairing fans help me to understand where you are coming from. Thanks. |
| Fairy Tail doesn't have a deep plot or at least something close to a clever plot,so the fans instead of doing threads for theories etc... they do threads for Shipping,and almost "only" discuss about it. |

| Personally i prefer the little hints of romance in fairy tail better than the crappy harem animes, and yeah like that guy said cause people get attached to the characters |

| And to answer the forum topic from my own point of view, I think it's because it gives them that jolt of happiness seeing their favorite characters find romance in their lives. I for one don't really care who Natsu might get with. I watch Fairy Tail because it's a great shounen with great action, good arcs, fun characters, and is overall enjoyable. | I'm a part of a pairing fandom for Fairy Tail just to let you know. But, why I even bother to care if certain characters get together or not is because of their interactions and personalities. Some characters's interactions can be quite endearing to me which makes me wonder if more of this would happen if they were together. Other times, it's the insufferable compatibility between the two that really get me to pair them together. But, this is just me. Others may have different reasonings. But, this is mine. Anyway, the hint of who I pair together happens to be all over the OP and ED of this Fairy Tail season! ;3 |

| I'm nota big romance person, especially in shounen anime where everything is just fighting. But I'd have to say than GRAY X JUVIA is one of the best couples ever. |
| People tend to like it because it just adds another little side thing. Plus its kinda boring if there is 0 romance and I like that FT just drops subtle interactions that can go in either directions (Like a lot of Natsu and Lucys scenes that could just be a strong family bond or moving towards something more). It comes only once in a while and its not overt so its good. The only time FT tried to have a more direct romance thing is with Erza and Jellal and that is a train wreck that is forced and it shows. |

| It's not really my thing but when I see sparks going on between characters I can't help but cheer it on a bit myself. Romance has the potential to really deepen the character interactions when done right (not just for the sake of getting shippers to fawn over their OTPs). Not to mention love always spices things up. But I can only understand it when there's actual chemistry going on. No harm in people playing fantasy football with their ships, but it gets annoying when people parade nonexistent romance as canon, such as Levi x Eren in Attack on Titan. |

| People love romance, what's wrong with that? Besides, the majority of shippers are going with the legitimate canon teases about pairings that the original author makes, so they aren't doing anything wrong like impossible shippings or something. |

| I particularly don't but when it focuses heavily on the romance like Nakaimo LN, I actually get annoyed about if a a certain pair should be the one together. People probably care since they want to see their route, which I sort of find stupid. I mean if you're that kind of person play A VN lol. |
