Basically I'm looking for a mystery anime that has romance. Also I'd like it to have a male lead that's in his teens and same with the female lead.

also maybe a unique setting how Gosick is set in 1924 - something like that, doesn't have to be though.

Cheers - HaremMaster

I'd give Hyouka from Kyoto Animation a try. It does a very good job with mysteries and has some underlying romance (not close to the extent of Gosick though). It's a regular high school setting but I honestly liked it better than Gosick.

STOP in the name of love! Do not watch Hyouka if you want romance. It has literally none. Only very, very subtle hints. You'll be disappointed, I know I was.

Fractale (this is more futuristic but it's great! You should try it!)

Valkyria Chronicles (you could also try this, there's supernatural powers along with a bit or mystery and a bit of romance.)

Chobits (this has a similar feel as gosick with a tad bit of a mystery but it's more of a modern/future anime with a bit of romance.)

Otome Youkai Zakuro (this is in a bit older era with a bit of mystery and romance. It's cute in some areas too as was gosick)

Mirai Nikki - It has a different story where one individual plays a game to kill the other diary owners, using their cellphones as a diary a game to become the god of time and space. Mirai Nikki stands for Future Diary. So, obviously they had a different class of diary. Also what is unique here is the Female lead which is Yuno Gasai. Come and check it out. http://myanimelist.net/anime/10620/Mirai_Nikki_%28TV%29
Though it is not a typical mystery still, you will enjoy this one.

I've had a look at its wiki-page before, but I'm sceptical because I don't really like drama to be honest.

Some of those look ok, thanks, I will check them out.

Similar to Hyouka, I don't particularly like horror/thriller anime, and I don't really like Yandere characters. I might watch it some time in the future though.

I'm very big into this certain genre. Finding a romance mixed with a mystery is very hard. You get subtle text, but no touchdown on the actual relationship besides Gosick. So here's what I can suggest...

Hyouka (School/mystery) with hints of characters liking each other - by far one of my favorites.

Un-Go (mystery) That has a touch of what could be called romance in it. But, nothing definitive.

Tantei Gakuen Q - as long as you can get passed it not being wide screen this series is awesome. Subtle romance and Murder/mystery. Not to mention its got a lot of episodes.

Detective Conan - nuff said.

I highly suggest Hyouka and Tantei for mystery nuts.

Hyouka is very disappointing in the romance department but it is fairly good in the aspect of it's mystery. It's much less dark than Gosick though

Dantalian no Shoka
(Mystery/Action)
http://myanimelist.net/anime/8915/Dantalian_no_Shoka

"The similarities between Dantalian no Shoka and Gosick are pretty overt. The dynamics of the two main characters, for one, are quite similar, with both anime featuring a good-hearted male lead and an assertive female led. The art style of both anime is dark and gothic, and both of them deal with the macabre theme of death and the supernatural. The quality of animation for both series is also excellent, with great backdrops and fluidly-animated scenes all throughout."

Kamisama no Memochou
(Mystery)
http://myanimelist.net/anime/10568/Kamisama_no_Memochou?q=kamisama%20

"One cannot really deny the similarity between Kamisama no Memochou and Gosick, with both anime featuring similar concepts such as the reclusive young female detective and and a male lead who is a lot less assertive than the female. The tsundere element is also very overt in both series. Lastly, both involve mysteries that the main characters are tasked to solve. Oh yeah, Kamisama no Memochou also aired on the very day that Gosick ended, catering to the very demographic that the latter was able to grasp."

Umineko no Naku Koro ni
(Mystery/Horror)
http://myanimelist.net/anime/4896/Umineko_no_Naku_Koro_ni

"Both Umineko and Gosick are anime which feature a distinctly European setting. The costumes of the characters, for one, are very Victorian. Also, both Umineko and Gosick deal with the supernatural, or at least the possibility of the supernatural. The sense of mystery i both anime is also very apparent, as well as the dark undertones and mystery that lie within the anime’s plot."

Hyouka
(Mystery)
http://myanimelist.net/anime/12189/Hyouka

"These two have the genre mystery in common, thrown in with a few 'awkward, possible romantic' situations. Basically, if you like mystery, watch Gosick and Hyouka."

UN-GO
(Mystery)
http://myanimelist.net/anime/10798/UN-GO

"Though Un-Go received some flak from its viewers during its run due to the pacing of the initial episodes, once the story picked up, however, it managed t draw a lot more viewers in. Both Un-Go and Gosick have great, pretty fluid animation, with characters who are talented at deductive reasoning. The backdrops for both anime are pretty intricate as well, and both feature good music that goes well with the series’ atmosphere. Overall, the story arcs for both anime are also enough to draw the viewers’ interest, culminating in a finale that is both memorable and worth it."

There are some weird suggestions in that thread considering what the op is asking for...

Are probably the one you should go with first, as they are definitely the closest from gosick. I personally prefer memochou to dantalian by far, but both are definitely similar.

edit: january 2014.... -_-. I don't know what saddens me the most, the fact that no one answered those anime before one year and 11 months passed, or the fact that someone necroed this to give those recs that won't be any useful to the op (hasn't connected to MAL since 7 months anyway)...
