I'm looking for any romance anime with slice of life, drama and josei elements, and a touch of comedy. Tragedy is alright, but I'm not a big fan of fantasy although I do appreciate a few like Inu x Boku SS, Kaze No Stigma, Durarara!!, Angel Beats! and Romeo x Juliet. I'd prefer a school life anime, but other than that so long as the anime is mature and realistic I have no problem. No online computer gaming or RPG or MMORPG like Sword Art Online. No ecchi, harem, reverse harem, fan service, hentai. Kissing is fine that's as far as it should go. Absolutely cannot have ANY vampires please. Also I'm not a fan of old animation so anything after 2006/2007 should be fine. Anime I've already seen and I love includes:

1) Nodame Cantabile
2) Welcome To The N.H.K. (definitely has some nudity scenes but I was able to bare it enough to appreciate the story)
3) Kids on the Slope
4) Kokoro Connect
5) Genshiken
6) Clannad
7) Clannad After Story
8) Honey and Clover 1 & 2
9) Chiyafuru
10) Usagi Drop
11) Haruhi Suzumiya (honestly loved the movie more than the anime which felt stagnant)
12) Toradora!
13) Bakuman
14) Ano Hana
15) Inu x Boku SS
16) Kimi ni Todoke
17) Say "I Love You"
18) Lovely Complex
19) Bokura ga Ita
20) Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (some sex scenes, but again its not like hentai and the story is really mature so I enjoyed it!)

I've seen a lot more but I can't come up with any other good names. I do like good shoujo like Ouran Highschool Host Club, Fruits Basket, Special A etc. but I would like some real life mature anime without the sex and with some good romance.

Oh yeah I already saw it, definitely loved it! I'll add it to the list too. Thanks for understanding what I mean, though!

Maybe Lovely Complex then. I saw episode one and it looked like it could fit in that category. I'd ask someone whos seen everything if you get a chance.

I've seen Lovely Complex too, and of course I loved it :p That's why it's getting hard to find a good anime to watch. Thanks for the advice!

If you don't mind slow pacing then try Spice and Wolf. Though not so heavy on romance and it contains fantasy, but it's still good enough to give it a try.
Not jousei, but still romance anime: ef-a tale of melodies is a nice romance, but you should watch ef- a tale of memories first.

I say this everytime. Kare kano. This is an amazingly realistic and more "mature" anime in the aspects that they explore more than their feelings but their daily life, their home life, and what that entails in the relationship. It's rather interesting. Check it out. It's an older anime, but the art isn't bad and it's well worth it. Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou is the entire name. If you don't watch this because it's made in 1999 you are really missing out)

"People die if they get killed" who knew.

If it's anything like Romeo x Juliet, I'll definitely give Spice and Wolf a try, even though i don't appreciate cat/dog/wolf girls that much. And as for ef, I just couldn't bring myself to finish it, tried a lot of times but just couldn't.

A lot of people suggest kare kano, but I guess I'm a stickler for art, I couldn't watch it! I guess I'll give it a try again if it is that good!

It's excellent and It fits perfectly with your request. It's seinen, , it's mature, no ecchi, no harem, no fantasy, no sex (not on screen anyway), just romance/drama and comedy. But there's no school in it (thankfully) the male lead does go to college, but that's not the focus.
I know it's long but trust me, it's worth it (even the synopsis says so, lol).

I think Myself ; Yourself would fit your requirements quite nicely. Honestly do not know what josei is, but it has romance, drama, and has kids in high school, although much of the show takes place outside of the classroom. I often recommend this because the situation that makes the show dramatic is a realistic situation, and that's what made it so dramatic to me.

Koi Kaze, but you said you're a stiffler for art so you may not like it. Anyway, it is a highly realistic treatment of the Westermark Effect and IMO is very well done, though the subject matter may put you off. (It also has a sex scene, but it is minimal).

+1

I know these are old anime, but they are good.
I know I said anime after 2006/2007 would be preferable but honestly I'm ok with as far back as 2000. I watched the first episode of Koi Kaze, I actually really enjoyed it, and one/two sex scenes is fine I guess. If I can enjoy Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, I can definitely enjoy this! Thank you!
