Taking from ANN on the first Annual seiyuu awards results:

In addition to award categories for acting roles, the awards also include a "Special Achievement" category and a "Synergy" award, which is awarded to the movie or series that voters feel make a strong use of voice talent.

Noriko Ohara, Production baobab
Mariko Mukai, 81 Produce

Synergy Award: Pokémon

my opinions are split on this. half of them i completely agree with, and some of them are like wtf lol.

obviously Aya Hirano, Yuko Goto, and Romi Paku deserve their awards. I think Yui Kano's award is pretty funny given a certain someone on this forum's reaction to Momoko's voice.

wtfs are somehow Aya Hirano didn't win best musical performance? and Pokemon won the synergy award rofl.

Haha, apparently some people really liked Momoko's voice in Sumomo. I couldn't stand it though. Obnoxious and sounded way too forced.

How were these awards decided?

no idea how these are picked but the american anime awards are going to be really bad, so many errors and poor choices on the voting form

that is quite interesting. i can understand why the winners were chosen though I don't necessarily agree with them but then again I'm somewhat biased for certain shows. I actually think that pokemon is a show that deserves some award cause I like the VA in that show
