How can anyone decide, both are great characters. Chiho is earnest and up front, willing to risk everything for the people she loves, Emi is well, Emi, one of the best defined characters in animation.

Both showed tremendous growth during this show. Chiho, people forget, is only 17, so of course she can't compare to the maturity of Emi, but at the same time, from starting as the "big breasted loli", she showed that she has great depth and touching honesty, which of course is why Maou, Emi, and Suzuno are so protective of her. I really hope she has the opportunity to power up sometime, so that she can honestly stand equal to everyone else. That would be something to see.

Personally I am more an Emi type and usually dislike the "breast" type. But you really have to credit Chiho's earnestness: one would find it hard to resist if directed at them.

I'd personally say Alseil.
But I'd vote for Chiho given the two options, I personally like Emi more than I do Chiho though. Emi however, has too much against Maou for me to consider her, I'm fairly surprised she only brought up Maou's actions in Ente Isla once (which was immediately interrupted by Chiho); it would honestly seem a bit forced and would seem to purposely be playing into an ironic cliche.

I could see why she looked up to Maou-sama in the first place; he was an exemplary employee who moved up the ranks very quickly and was very supportive of her at work - he wasn't condescending to her nor did he discourage her when she complained about spilling the fries. Everyone indeed makes mistakes.

She wasn't fazed by him being a dark lord either or pretend that he didn't do awful things back in Ente Island, she accepted his past and as well as the person she saw in front of her (the hardworker and person saving lives time after time) She admitted this much whenever she defended him.

She took action and confessed to him, I like that kind of girl, I prefer that to just blushing, dreaming WITHOUT EVER telling the one you love/like how you feel.
Maoh-sama was such a gentleman and mature about it too!

Hm, between the ladies I'm not particularly decided either way. I think leaning a bit Emi, though. Love coming from her would mean a lot more than it coming from Chiho (who is bloody adorable, but seems to have accepted Maou's murderous past a leetleee too easily, haha), and I find her to be the more interesting character overall.

(Also c'mon guys try to make your choice based on something a bit more intelligent than raw breast size, honestly :<)

I'm curious how this vote changes along with season 2 because it seems both Emi and Chi-chan will be more involved with Maou.

By the way I don't think Emi is tsundere. It's natural for her to think it impossible that she can forget strong resentment against Maou not only now but in any future. You know that is because of the terrible news that Maou's army had destroyed her village and killed her father when she was in the Church.

It needs long time for her to settle down.

Speaking of Chii-chan, she is currently just as helpless as ordinary human. She is an average high school student after all. I know she is far above average in some way that can make Emi feel uncomfortable but that is completely useless to protect Chii-chan when she gets involved a fight among those who have strong magic power. She knows Maou would have a much harder time if he must protect her when fighting. Then, what should she do? I don't know if it will be revealed in season 2.

I totally agree with that Chii-chan is useless now. But, you can see a hint at the opening movie of this season, not season 2, where she is in practicing Japanese archery. It is just one of extracurricular activities in the school and she applied to the club before she met Maou. I'm sure she never thought she would be in a real battle field. But the situation has changed already...

My main problem with Chiho is what defines her as a character.

Here you have Emi and Maou, two very independent people who have a clear goal in mind, from conquering mcdonalds to maintaining her idealized version of what a hero should be.

Then you have Chiho, your typical submissive girl whose whole world revolves around Maou, which is understandable since she's still a teenage (high school?) girl.

Until she becomes more independent and evolves as a character (how can you fail at working at mcdonalds?), Maou will always see her as this little girl that needs his protection, thus leading to her becoming shafted and friend zoned.

The only other reason I'd even consider Chiho is if you're suffering from white knight syndrome and are craving Mcdonalds Extra Value Meal Number 1.
