Well, just what the title says. Pick out one of the few episodes per year and tell us what exactly do you like about it. I'll start with my personal favourite in 2010 - Ojii-san no Lamp. The way this story approaches changing times as well the humans living in these epochs bears stunning relevance to our current generation and that of our fathers. The digital revolution and other examples continue to alienate older generations and this was portrayed in a realistic way. It's still to early to pick an episode for 2011, but Wasurenagumo is pretty good. I classic eastern märchen with subtle horror - that actually works far better than most "horror anime" I saw so far. |

I've watched them all except Ryo and I like Death Billiards the best, followed by Wasurengamono. Little Witch Academy was cute, but too much like Herry Potter for me. LOL. |

By each year - and after watching the 2014 ones: 2011: Tansu Warashi (without a doubt the best one that year) 2012: Buta (not the best year for "Anime Mirai", though) 2013: Ryo / Little Witch Academy (in tie) 2014: Ookii 1 Nensei to Chiisana 2 Nensei / Parol no Mirai Shima (in tie) ;) |

My favourite would have to be Harmonie, after watching them all. Loved the symbolism/metaphor that was put in front, and the way they executed the interactions, the dream and portrayed things in a particular order was very clever and thought-provoking. Very lovely animation too, seriously Studio Rikka should start a series one day. 2013: Little Witch Academia would be my vote. So charming and classical, and the animation is fluid and fun to watch. Death Billards is close though, that was very interesting and I liked the open end. Ryo had some bright ideas and potential but the execution was really bad and the scenes were cluttered and all over the place. Arve Rezzle was rushed and I didn't really care for it, was dumb. 2012: Wasurenagumo was great. Especially that ending, god damn. Was very fun and liked the girl ;_;, and had some nice subtle humour and spiders. Then it'd be Buta; really enjoyed that one. Like some children's film and was very comedic, although it could've been better. Dudu the Floatie was nice, had a nice style and the ending was sweet. Minding My Own Business was ver interesting too, despite being my least favourite of 2012. It could've been executed better and it felt weak at times, but had a nice message and the sketchy style was unique. 2011: The Old Man's Lamp is my 2nd favourite out of all of them. Love the way it's executed and the way time moves on gradually was fun, plus the message of moving on was done very cleverly near the end (with the wife too). Kizuna Ichigeki had really great characters and the action was super fun to watch. Fun stuff. Super Veggie Torracman was dumb but funny; had a good message and was surprisingly cute. Lastly, Wardrobe Dwellers was pretty nice for what it was and the character change was clever, despite being sorta obvious. Overall, I enjoyed all of them except Ryo to an extent and Arze. Will update when I watch all the 2014 ones. |
