The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (light novel)
| Hi, so I recently finished the movie for the first time. Loved it. Unfortunately I didn't really understand what happened near the end of the film when Ryoko stabbed Kyon, and how he ended up in a hospital back in his original world? Since I never read the novels, I may not understand the movie as well. But after some researching this is what I got (correct me if im wrong): *minor spoilers for novel Basically, Kyon was saved by himself, Nagato and Mikuru who came from the future a year from now. Present Nagato was injected with the correction program; effectively restoring the world to its original state. Kyon's stab wound was than healed by future Nagato but was sent to the hospital due to blood loss. Future Nagato then fabricated memory of Kyon falling down stairs as a cover up for his actual knife injury. Future Kyon, Mikuru and Nagato goes to back their timeline. Kyon wakes up in hospital bed and epilogue In terms of plot holes, how did Nagato manage to harness Haruhi's power and has the capability to remove Haruhi's power? The reason I say that is that no one in the "normal" world has any supernatural powers. Even though Haruhi met "John Smith" in that timeline as well. Which I assume she would've asked "John Smith" whether aliens, time travellers and espers existed, effectively wishing for their existence. But of course that didn't happen, proving that Haruhi is no longer "God". Doesn't that mean Nagato actual has more power than Haruhi? Kyon saving himself seemed like a paradox. And how did adult Asahina know that she needs to go back to Tanabata day 3 years in the past from the present? Considering Tanabata event was the catalyst for Haruhi's data burst and the creation of aliens, timetravellers and espers, isn't that also a paradox? I mean Haruhi wouldn't have been inspired to wish for time traveller's existence unless Kyon travelled back in time with Asahina to help Haruhi? That itself is also a paradox Sorry for the long post |
