Not all are just for the looks, some are for animation or originality, most don't have reasons..

Metropolis (just for Tima and her aura)
Cowboy Bebop
K-On (you may hate me)
Byousoku 5CM (there isn't a scene in the movie that isn't beautiful)
FLCL
Samurai Champloo
Aria (the animation and images create the whole "wholesome" feel without going overboard, that is for me pretty amazing)
