| Seconding... Higurashi Gantz Mirai Nikki Chaos;Head All of these are top notch anime. Really glad someone mentioned Chaos;Head. It's not my favorite or anything, but it's definitely a mind fuck. As for other recs... School Days is pretty fucked up around the end... Well, it's pretty fucked up altogether, I guess. Saikano gets really fucking weird. Great show! Mnemosyne: Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi is pretty out there as well. Karas is really odd and confusing. I had absolutely no clue what was going on during the first episode. Kara no Kyoukai is pretty out there. Especially the epilogue. Wasn't sure what was happening there, but it was SWEEEEEEEEET. Elfen Lied is pretty fucked up. Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero gets pretty crazy at points. Darker Than Black gets weird around the end. Akira? When I watched it, I didn't understand a thing, but that was years and years ago. From what I can remember, it's weird and confusing. Now... Off to watch Seto no Hanayome to see what all the fuss is about! |

| Nobody's recommended Serial Experiments Lain or Angel's Egg yet? On a similar note to those two, Tamala 2010 would probably work too. And I am pretty sure Texhnolyze has a place in this thread too, even though I have only watched the first couple of episodes. I believe it's more violent than my other recommendations too (the others mostly focus on the weird/mindf**k part of the recommendation). Oh yeah, can't forget the Utena movie either. The TV series is optional, but recommended. Not watching will probably make the movie even weirder than it already is. |

| I just watched Battle Royal Highschool.... these is some deeply disturbing scenes in that lol. I think the MOST disturbing anime I've ever seen is Mr. Arashi's freak show, seriously though give this one a pass unless you really have the stomach for it. It was like Piranha 3-D, meets Sharktopus, pumped full of state-of-the-art animation, and touched with a hint of Peter Jackson's Brain Dread. I would definitely recommend this anime be watched with a group of friends. |
