![]() The first ever unofficial Super Sentai from Toei is almost among us! Courtesy of The Morphin Grid: AkibaRanger will tell the story of three people being part of an otaku club and living in the new "Electric-Town" Akihabara. They will have to fight a mysterious malevolent entity that swore to conquer Earth with cool gadgets created by a brilliant genius. The Akibaranger's secret base/hideout is a "Sentai Cafe," a Super Sentai version of the popular maid cafe in Japan. Unlike past Super Sentai, this show is made strictly for adults and will feature bloody violence and much in the way of sexual humor. The show, like Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, will feature alumni from previous sentai guest-starring throughout the program. So far, only Ryuuji Sainei, best known for portraying DekaRed in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger is set to appear. So what are your thoughts on this...unique...idea Toei has? Personally, I find the show sounds absolutely appealing and can't wait to see what Toei has wanted to get away with on Super Sentai for several years. |

That was... BEAUTIFUL! ![]() It's like they are doing another series to celebrate the 35 years. Playing with tropes was very nice. The girls are very cute. Red's actor really nails the ossan Ikari Gai. It's funny how they make fun of their own audience. And of otaku in general. |

2 LOL @ the russian trying to buy the pirate version haeuhaeuh Strip away attack on Malseena was nice. And that aburamushi was a total pervert. The girls sure are cute. And Nobuo's actor really nails the ossan Gai character. Wasn't expecting the Gokaiger reference and the "oficial" DekaRed cameo during the fights. I guess it should also count as a tribute to the 35 years... Itashar robo is actually done with more details than many official sentai mecha. Episode was nice, but not what I expected, I guess I was just expecting too much. |

3 So, Yumeria is not just a cosplayer. She is a rotten one. She was really funny with all her fantasies and "split" personality. She finally changed cosplay too. LOL @ the kitaaaaaaa scene. Nobuo was awesome as usual and being used in Yumeria's fantasies was priceless. But Mitsuki bringing a cameo to the fight? That was unexpected. And she was totally awesome. And bouken ranger red good luck mode is always nice. LOL @ the te hee before Moe Magnum finisher. The way they're interacting is also very funny. And the BL Kaijin was the final ingredient for an awesome episode. I just missed machine itashar. |

4 Yumeria as Mele! That was awesome! And Mitsuki as Shikuza was also very good. Nobu's fantasies are the best. LOL @ Nobu bumping on the tree. Another good episode, but not as good as 1 or 3. |

The tree bump was classy. The cosplays were nice. Having former AV actress (Honoka) cosplaying characters played by former AV actresses was a funny touch lol. No wonder this was screened in an adult-only pre-screening lol. |

5: Loved this episode! Might very well be my favourite yet for the action and cosplay, and it even had me in tears by the end. =( One thing I wonder, though, is if they'll ever question the trope that involves their ridiculously large henshin devices being pulled out of thin air? |

5 This is the mark of an awesome show. They can do both the funny and crazy stuff and the drama properly. The end of the episode was pretty touching. Nobu's delusions were cool as always and his reactions to Yumeria's (or should I say Yuko?) room were priceless. Rica as the mother was a good reference. They did some interesting shots of Malshina. Susan, maybe. But you have to keep in mind that they're already in delusion mode when they transform. |

6 LOL @ the waitresses on the background, @ Nobu repositioning Yume, @ Nobu and Yume trying to see who is the top and @ MaruCna calling the cab. Awesome episode. Nobu was very funny. His rain scene was priceless and Yume is always nice with her character. Mitsuki was on fire. But we also had Niibori and the studio. That was VERY nice and his lessons were cool. There was MaruCna fanservice AND her invasion of the real world. Now, we still need to know how that's possible, but it'd be cool if she was another person having a delusion. Or if she's part of Hakase's delusion... Maybe Hakase's unconscious delusion? The MOTW and the fight against him was also very good. It was a clever parody of modern theather and of the action movies. The Akibas using clothes over the suits was nice. All the characters are cool AND funny. This might be the best Toei toku series. |

Episodes 1-6: What an odd freaking show. For starters, great characters. These are fun characters with funny quirks and a strong team dynamic. Next, this show is FUNNY AS HELL. I love so many of the gags and the spot-on parodies of sentai tropes that only Toei could get away with. Small jokes like Malshina calling the taxi and AkibaRed slamming into the tree while dashing are hysterical. I would like the science behind the delusions explained a little more. To me, it occasionally comes off as the writer making up rules as he goes along (combining delusions, Malshina infiltrating the real world). The guest stars have been great so far. DekaRed and BoukenRed were great, but Niibori is a whole new level of coolness. Oh, and I'm surprised that Power Rangers being mentioned in a (unofficial) Toei-produced sentai didn't make the universe cave in on itself. |

Reported? Where? Well, I don't think being violent will fit with the show's atmosphere. 7 Mitsuki and Yume cosplaying Aoi and Satomi was priceless.Nobu's a lucky guy. Having two cute girls cosplay as the heroines of your favorite anime right next to you... Yume as an OL! I also liked her Samurai? cosplay. Surprsingly, an episode full of plot. And you know what, it's interesting. I'm eager to know who Hakase's father was, what he did, what Aoi-tan has to do with the Akibas and what the Toei producer wanted. I guess it'll be more than just comedy. That tron battle was cool and the Akibas seeing their bodies was funny. But it's strange. Yumeria's art is identical to Hakase Sr.'s. I hope they can keep it funny while having a main plot. |

Episode 7: Some of the best action so far in this episode. Nice to see Machine Itassher make a grand return. So, Hakase's dad created Malshina and the Z-Cune Guns? I'm interested. Unfortunately, I know what the Toei producer wants with the team (read episode summaries by accident). But knowing that and considering what happened this episode, I'm extremely interested to see where this show goes from here. |

8 So the name of their favorite ep is Z-cune Aoi and the mysterious door... Interesting. LOL @ the present chance and @ the alpaca bowing and hitting red. They got a bazooka with the 3 powers. It seems it'll be 13 after all, since they already got the mecha and the bazooka with 3 powers... A shame. I really wished to see the 4th. Well, maybe if they do a 2nd season. The awkward moment when you realize your father is the villain, huh, Hakase? The training bit was good fan service and the Alpaca's plan was funny. Another good episode. |

9 Lots of 4z references. Man this keeps getting better. Hakase's father is SUUUUUUUPER. But also Oh Come my way (Okama Way). And that showa design. Nobu was very nerdy in front of Sayaka, but he also became a super hero, so I guess he made a good impression. Alpaca, you don't hit the OP song singers. And I agree, a nice ass there. Hakase was Aoi's seiyuu. Didn't see that coming. Wonder why she seems hurt when Nobu-pyon transformed. This keeps getting better. next ep A mystery guy? An enemy that looks like a guy that transforms? Maybe we'll have a 4th after all. Ah, I really hope we have a full season. |

She's gonna play Kaede Kaburagi in the Tiger and Bunny live action. Also Mitsuki's actress is only 18. Young cast (except Nobu duh) Interesting to note she played in a Pepsi Nex commercial, which is also somewhat related to Tiger and Bunny. |

Ep 9: This show is so frickin' FUN! =D Every episode just ups the ante that much more. I'm kind of sad it will end at 12 episodes plus a recap, BUT, I'm glad we won't end up with any repetitiveness and filler that the regular Sentai series falls into. Even with the way they're loading the back end with plot, I'm not in the last disappointed and I'm sure that not only will it go out with a massive BANG, but that everything will be wrapped up. |

10 So Hakase is cursed and will loose her voice. The way she got the curse was pretty strange though. The moesomething particles shouldn't work like that and that's the only thing that explains the abnormalities in the show. LOL @ Nobu getting hit by Mitsuki's roll call. Delu-knight has Sanji and Kotetus's voice. And his attack is similat to Barizorg's. What was that attack with Yuko upside down? I thought it was Retsu, but Takuma is played by Retsu's actor twin. His clothes might be a reference to Terui's. And riding a bike with a trumpet? KR Ibuki reference. The girls reaction to him was funny, even though that was a bit cheesy. And LOL @ the pentagon wanting to hire Nobu. Shouldn't they call his phone or his job's phone? Pretty silly if you ask me. They could've used the JSDF or somethign. Takuma being from Interpol is also kinda lame. And they wouldn't send just one guy. I know the show isn't supposed to be realistic, but they could at least try to make the parts in the real world more convincing I wonder what will happen to MaruCna, since she probably feels her papa doesn't like her anymore. Anyway, Takuma is either a villain or he won't get the victory flags. And Dr. Z really destroyed the moe anime fans. I don't really think 26 episodes would reduce the quality. They could have one more episode for each ranger, one girl power episode, one Red and yellow and onde Red and blue episodes... A KozKoz centered episode... There are many parodies to be made. And they could have the 4th... There would be a lot of material to keep it fresh. |

Well, I meant with a 49 episode season. I'm certainly all for a second season of Akibaranger! 26 isn't too bad. But, to be honest, I don't think at any point you could really refer to this series as "fresh." Refreshing, sure it is. Fresh? Nah. I just noticed Punkbeelte's comment: For a late night drama, 12 episodes *is* a full season (I'm not counting the recap). |

11 That was pure genius! They fooled me. I thought they were going to do a reconstruction after the initial deconstruction, but they deconstructed it even more. Nobuo noticed they are inside a TV show. And rebelled against the producers. You can't get more meta than that. It's like that episode with Daffy vs. the artist. Tons of Gekiranger and Sun Vulcan references. NobuCna shipping. Serious action and lot's of parodies. Man, this show is almost too good to be true. |

12 Awesome ending. They made fun of so many tropes that I just couldn't keep count. The action was pretty good and the episode was very entertaining. Even Saburo was a joke, since that's not a person, just the name they use for the Toei team, like Sunrise does with Yatate Hajime. Don't worry Akibarangers, you'll continue to live in our memories. I'm still amazed at this show's plot. I was hoping for a simple parody, but they actually had a very clever plot for the series. The comedy was VERY good, the acting was better than the average toku acting, the characters were excellent and the cameos and references were very cool. The fights weren't that hot most of the time, but there were some very good moments. The suit actors also did an amazing job. Even if we take the awesome plot of the last episodes out, it still is a lesson on how to do a toku parody series and I'm not afraid to write that it must be one of the best parody shows ever made. Let's hope Akiba's success makes Toei invest in more alternative tokus. I wouldn't mind a comedy toku done by Akiba's team. A mature toku would also be very welcome. |

Episode 12: Well, that's that...or is it? Gotta love the way Boomerang Titan was defeated. That sums up Akibaranger in a nutshell. I found the "not wanting to show to end" aspect a bit depressing actually. These are self-aware characters, meaning they know that after the final episode they will cease to exist. Their desire to continue on LITERALLY right to the final title card is sad in a strange way. |

You know, it's taken me 12 episodes to realize that KozKoz is Kozue of Danceroid? Even after m4rc0 mentioned they were in a dance group together... *slaps forehead* I watch her solo videos on YT. Or I did, but I hadn't really been bothering with YT for awhile, but just today I watched my first Kozue video in awhile. Then as I was watching episode 12, I was thinking... "Koz... Koz... KOZUE?" Sigh. Anyways, I really can't believe they only made 12 episodes of this. @_@ Don't let it end! Fabulous final episode, especially that wonderful position AkibaRed and Malshina got into... My biggest regret? We never got to see Akagi worry over whether he should be pursuing a pure relationship with Sayaka, or a forbidden relationship with Malshina. Not that he deserves a hottie like Malshina... but you know, it would've been a lot of fun. |
