Great episode, I really liked the philosophical aspect of it. Kinda reminded me of Ergo Proxy.

The fact that Amy gave that piece of glass to Minamo was a nice finishing touch.

For me it was the 3rd best episode so far, only losing to the violin and the rogue A.I. ones. It was great that The-Metal decided to translate the report Minamo was looking at, since it shows very important aspects of the creators' views on the evolution of artificial implants.

Yep as always a very deep and clever episode. It was a good thing that The-Metal translated the report, but at the same time I'm pretty sure it slowed them a lot to finish subbing this episode ;)

On a side note, I'd love to get to a main plot after the first half of the series (say starting at episode 14), it would be a great idea to have 13 "backgroud episodes" where the characters and bakcground of the series are developped, then 13 episodes with a main plot involving the Metal network (approximately the same concept as GITS SAC if you follow me).

In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same.

next to ghost in the shell, this is by far the most profound anime ive seen so far. the philosophical implication almost mirror what is currently going on within our world. i would say in current the technological development rate it would be another 300 years probably before we even get to this point, taking into account of war, natural disasters, etc...that arent catastrophic.

already research has been conducted to implat chips to alow quadriplegic people to control an electronic device with just their minds.

the discussion about the elimination of the handicapped was most insightful and provides a perspective on that subject from a different angle.

Took me long enough. DL'd the 720p hd version and it crashed me, even after an avi conversion. DL'd the lower quality (still good) version tonight. What an awesome epi! Well worth the work and wait.

Is Minamo a retard? What made her think that girl was going to kill herself in the beginning? Is it a crime to just stand there and look out at the sea? Are the writers on crack? This show is just.. I'm so close to dropping it.

Normally when you see someone slowly walking towards the ocean with normal clothes on, it's a good indicator that they plan to drown them self. Not to mention in Japan's culture suicide is at a high.

As for the episode, I thought it was good. I like how each episode has touched on a different disability or love that humans have. Another thing I noticed is Minamo has slowly been losing weight which is good. Her friends seem to have stayed the same however newer women that are introduced seem to be less chubby.

looked like she was gonna kill herself to me
or do you walk straight into the ocean fully clothed? especially in a country with one of the highest suicide rates in the world, in part because its embraced culturally.

If your blind and are suddenly able to see, its like you can see and suddenly go blind.

Whoa, a very nice episode, everything was very well represented.

Funny how it looks to be 300 years away in 2008, only 14 years later we are almost there, technology really just accelerates itself.
