I know when some games get localized here to the states, they do provide the option to play in both languages or at least with subtitles. I was wondering if any of you guys know if japan provides the same thing for their types of games. I am a huge rpg fan but ive only ever played most jrpgs that have been localized, i never really got into most of the games exclusively released in japan. But i know thier is a great library of games especially for anime fans, which is something we seldom get here and rpgs that are worth playing, but unfortantly i am not very fluent in speaking japanese so i was wondering if any of you know if they got any games that provide any translations, or dual audio option for Japanese imports. I might check them out. I really want to get a list of great imports in my video game collection.

If not a physical copy even if its just emulation, im content with that as well.

All my JRPGs are in japanese only...I have some japanese JRPGs and all text is in japanese...

Some imports PS3 games I have:

Tales of Xillia
Tales of Vesperia
Tales of Graces F
Tears to Tiara
Hiperdimension Neptunia
Mamoru-kun (the single disc based Shmup for PS3)

Out of those games i own tales of vesperia, tales of graces F, and Hyperdimension Neptunia but thats because all those games got localized.

I know the Gyakuten Saiban DS remakes had both English and Japanese options, but they were released here later with the English script anyway. I don't know of any Japan exclusive JRPGs that have an English translation, though.

As for emulation, there are a lot of fan translations for games that were never released here.

If a game is designed for Japanese release, they couldn't care less about providing English subtitle. There's no reason to. You can however try getting an Asian version of the game. Example is FF13, where the Asian version that has Japanese audio does contain ENG subtitle/menu. However, I doubt it's a common practice.

None of the games I've imported so far have had English text, it was a pain at first, but it can be helpful if you're learning Japanese.

Well maybe i should change my question now to 'Is their any fan translation titles that you know of like "Tales of innocence" I actually made another topic bout this.

I am looking for more along the lines of japanese imports that are more anime themed like alot of the VN's.

This game would be a good example

Its a turn based strategy game and its actually pretty fun to play.

This is another example

I am looking for more games kind of like these.

Please if any of you can help me find some more great translations, perferebly role playing since that is my favorite genre or action adventure.

If you have a PS2, you might want Ar tonelico 2 which has a dual audio feature. The problem is that they only carried over around 50% of the Japanese voices to make space for the English ones. You could also try (importing) KH2 Final Mix. Japanese text, English voices, for some reason.

Well, as for JRPGs, the first two SNES Shin Megami Tensei main series games were fan translated. I know Persona 3 and 4 also have versions floating around with the official translation but with Japanese voices, although the official commercial versions are dubbed. Persona 2 Innocent Sin was also fan translated. Sengoku Rance is a pretty fun turn based strategy game with a fan translation. It's an H game though just so you're aware.

Melty Blood is great, btw.

Star Ocean the Last Hope International is RPG game with Dual Audio and Subtitle. And Persona 4 Arena have Dual Audio too but this game have Region Lock, So if your PS3 is USA version you have to wait until August to play this game.

I can't give exact names but I do know some "International Editions" (basically their way of saying "same game with some extra goodies") used to have English subs. In fact, some of the games we got with Jap tracks, like Star Ocean 4 for PS3 only do so because they're literally the "International version" to begin with.

I think most people missed the question somehow. Anyway, I don't know of any, but the "international" versions might have it, if that counts.

Fragile Dreams has dual audio with subs. So does Xenoblade Chronicles.

The upcoming Persona 4 Arena is going to have the option of toggling between dubs.
Same with Ni no Kuni.

Atlus seems to be learning then. And not surprised about Xenoblade and Fragile Dreams. I'm pretty sure they're straight ports from the localization done for PAL regions.

Yep, considering most of the games suggested aren't Japan exclusive.

If I understand the question, you're looking for a game that has English text with Japanese audio...?

If that's the case, I know Disgaea 2 has an option to switch to either English or Japanese voices. But that's most likely only within the US version, considering they generally don't even add English until exporting....

About time, too.

Xenoblade's a direct port, yes. Not positive about Fragile, though the US and European releases were only a few days apart. Very unlike what happened with Xenoblade.

@ OP: I can't believe I forgot to add Mother 3. There's a fan translation floating around the internet. Wonderful game; I cannot recommend it highly enough.
