I don't think It's weird at all, as long as it's not your parent. Who previously called all anime stupid and likes Fruits Basket now for some weird reason, and now has an overall interest in anime.

Nope, I think that's pretty stupid for someone to think it's weird.

my older bro and his friends introduced me to anime when I was a kid. they're probably in their late 20's now. I think it's fine, I plan on watching anime for the rest of my life.

and also, anime have age ratings such as R+17 etc.. so obviously anime is made for any age audience

What what, what what what?

What's wrong with your parents watching anime? My dad enjoys anime...in fact, he got me into Dragonball! You should be somewhat happy that they like that x)

I don't find people who are older than 25 watching anime weird but having them show me all of their posters and figurines of school girls showing their panties is.

I know people older than 25 who watch anime/read manga, and I think it's fine.

just another voice (28 y.o.) to add to the chorus. why would anyone give up something they thoroughly enjoy because it has a stigma to some ignorant people? i find it a bit weird to see 45 year old women with ho clothes acting 21 in the club. even there though, if you're not hurting anyone, who gives a damn?

No. Anime and manga is just an interest, and interests are not something that can be defined or restricted by age (though they may change naturally with age)

Kind of.
Most of the anime and manga I've read and watched, even the seinen stuff, is pretty juvenile.

It's just taboo to be honest, society thinks that adults who watch anime are pedophiles or perverted or what not but they don't realize that some people grew up reading/watching anime/manga so it is just a part of their life. Nothing is wrong with it, and it surely doesn't matter what age you are. Albeit, anything overboard or extreme may not be necessarily be a great impression but that idea can be applied to everything.

Too much of a good thing is bad! (but anime is <3)

i never knew there was an age restriction on anime...I'm 29, married and have a son who I sometimes watch my anime with. I'll most likely watch anime till the day I die and I never let society's norm ever cut into what feels "right".

If you get too bothered about what people think, what's the point of having a hobby?

Yeah I guess anime is just like books to older folks. Whatever your hobby is as a kid, it sorta sticks with you. Even though the type you watch/read may change, you'll still watch/read.

If you went through your post and replaced "Anime" with "Live action tv/films"(Or books, or video games, or really any other medium) it would make the same amount of sense. Rather than go into a wall of text I am just going to ask a single question: Are live action fictional shows more real than fictional anime?(The question is a bit loaded.. But anyway)

Nope. I go to anime conventions and I have met a lot of people older than me. Heck, it's an anime convention, everyone goes there because we all watch anime or read manga.

This is a little ageist. I'm 23 and I still watch anime all the time. I only started watching it a few years ago.

Are you going to stop watching anime when you reach a certain age, OP? Seems a little ridiculous.

I doubt the allure of large breasts and mindless violence will wane when I turn 25+.

In fact I'll probably be such a loner that I all I do is patch anime in my mums basement, in my underpants, biscuit crumbs strewn everywhere, arms too lazy to itch my own crotch. Yep, as you can see I've got my life all planned out.

No, most people that don't watch anime might think it is weird. Just as some people believe playing videogames in your 20s is weird when in reality a large majority of people who play video games are of the age bracket 20-30.

I'll still be watching it regardless of what people think

No. Even though many of you may think that I'm weird for being a 33yo man watching moe anime and series like Doremi and Purikyua which are aimed at young girls.. But those are just fun to watch! ^^,

The thing is, I've never been a big fan of shounen/action, and the anime that I watched when I was a kid was mostly shoujo.. I think that I saw Candy Candy when I was about 7 years old and got hooked.. And then Creamy Mami.. Well, it's not just moe-kei/childish that I watch, I'm a huge fan of series with slow moving stories like Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. And stories like Noir and Madlax with great music!

Well, lately I've had a lot of projects so I haven't watched much, but I think I'll still continue to watch for a long time, as long as they still keep making interesting series!

I wouldn't find it weird at all.
The only thing I've found is that its more likely to find males over 25 still watching anime than females. Whenever I talk to a girl over 25 who used to watched anime she usually says she grew out of it. When I hear that it makes me sad :(

Yes, same here! they shouldl've not said that. Stopping to watch Anime doesnt mean you're already mature. Many people always think that Anime is just a mere cartoons often or should be watched by kids only. But why cant they understand the big difference of the two.

why would they try a kid to watch Cowboy Bebop, Fate/Stay Night and etc.,For sure the kid will get bored and doesnt care on that show. Unless you changed it to Spongebob or Ben 10, their eyes will be stunned on the t.v. for sure

Weird? - Nah. Awesome? - Yes, kind of.
I wish more older people were into anime. Or at least less of them thought that all anime is "childish" just because it's animated. Overall I would be very grateful if more people could use thier brains correctly. Oh, what an unreachable desire.

While I get where you going with that. You act like most of what airs today in North America does have artistic value.

hmm nope I dont see it as beign weird to watch anime if ur older than 25. Alot of anime have very good story lines compared to alot of the TV that is mostly reruns or just odd. Judging by the conventions I've been to I'd say its not really uncommon ^_^ Im probably gonna still be watching anime when I am that old as well.
