Manga, definitely. I'm not usually one of those people that goes "OMG TEH MANGA IS SOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER THEN THE ANIMU!!!!11!!1" but in this case, it really outshines the anime.

The anime was definitely good though and worth the watch.

Even if the manga is more amazing, I love how the voices in the anime kinda bring the characters more to life... especially Kyo!!!

I watched the anime before reading the manga - the anime was good, and I love it because it got me to read Fruits Basket, but it is pale in comparison to the manga. The manga goes much deeper, and hits you way harder, than the anime ever did. In the anime, the story had barely just begun. The manga wraps everything up perfectly.

I re-read the manga about a month ago, in a few day stint. Once I got to the later volumes it was just like the first time - rapid page flipping, my eyes gobbling up every single word and picture. When I finally finished, I sat back, and ... I cried for about 5 minutes (I'm embarrassed to say). I just felt so much emotion, I think I needed to release some of it, haha. And of course, I could only think about it for the first week after.

This series is just one that gets to me like none ever has before.

I know, right... you explained it exactly how I would

Manga of course. It's deeper and you could understand about the characters better as it explains more of their family background and their pasts that made them turn into what they've become now.

But the best part about the manga is that it shows character development. How they change over time. Getting older and become mature... falling in love.

I like both the same. One might of been more in depth than the other, but they were both still good.
I am a sucker for romance!!!!

Manga for sure. I did like the anime but like others, don't like how it ended. I would love to see it extended to cover the whole series because I think it would be so awesome. I love how the manga ended and it is something I would love to see. I <3 Kyo!!

The Manga of course, it's really explains the history. The anime is very short and it talk all the time about Yuki

i've re-watched it lots of times and love it everytime. I wish I could get the manga too. :)

If the anime continued telling the story my answer may have been different, but I have to go with the manga because it gives more information and a better ending.

Didn't like the seiyuu in the anime. Yuki too much like a girl. And Kyo too old-sounding. The manga was much better overall, so much deeper.

Well, I'm still in the middle of reading manga, but I mus say that manga is way better.
After watching anime I was confused: who is Akito? Who would end up with Tohru? Why I haven't seen some of the twelve zodiac animals? What's with that course?
I had a lot of question. That's why I started reading manga, because I heard it has way more than anime has. And it has.
Usually I prefer watching anime.

the only way you could prefer the anime is if you've never read the manga

I would have to go with the Manga. I saw the Anime first and liked it, but the Manga just went into so much more detail and provided much more to the story!

Manga.
Like the art better, plus manga is a full story while anime adapts only, like, half of the story. And what I hate about the anime is YUKI. Not only they gave him purple hair, but also he has a feminine voice. Animes ost is awesome though :)

Im glad i watch the anime first, because if i have read the manga first, i would have such high hopes for the anime. So the manga for me :)
