We ALL know some shows are basically made around the idea or premise of just trying to be shocking or as I say 'button pushing' (to someone).

But they are not always bad shows, they just seem to really like pushing someone's buttons.

My fav poster example 'button pushing' anime, which I actually liked, has to be Kodomo no Jikan.

The poor bloody teacher is NOT a fucking pervert. He's just a schmuck teaching grade 3, and happens to be the lucky bastard stuck dealing with a grade 3 school girl that has a lot of emotional baggage (which you only find out about several eps into the show).

I mean, if you watch the show and 'allow' yourself to be annoyed, shocked, put off, offended by some of the sequences, you miss out on seeing why the little terror is acting the way she does.

But the show does indeed push buttons. Not easy to watch a show, that features a grade 3 school girl flashing herself sans panties or appearing mostly naked in some scenes. Child porn is an easy knee jerk reaction and understandable.

But oddly enough, the show has some merits.
Although the music video I encountered made using the same dangerous sequences sure was intent on focusing on the sequences for entirely unsupportable reasons.

I found Sekon no Qwaser (spelling approx), was simple just too focused on tit scenes and looked too much like a dumb reason for tit scenes. I don't think it was a good show, and it fails for the simple reason the story was dumb. Just a button pushing show, with no redeeming quality.

I've been watching Yosuga no Sora, and I have to say, for a show that seriously pushes the envelope, it has a very good anime wrapped around the spicy scenes. Likely is easier to enjoy if you ditch the closing stupidity.
I've very much enjoyed it, although some of the sex scenes have seemed a bit much.
When the lad is screwing his gf at home, and his sister discovers him, well he just kept on screwing. I think 99% of the world likely would most definitely fail to maintain the ability to continue.

I've gotten a lot of laughs watching Ore no Imouto, and I am just so damned glad the brother has zero desire to screw his sister, and the sister is repulsed by the suggestion. Even though the entire reason for the show has been about her obsession with sister love eroge games. If they ever let anything happen in the show, it will totally ruin the show too.
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.
At least I can go see her in concert.

I think your wrong about the sister in Ore Imouto, she is totally jonesing for her brother. I think its pretty obvious. Though I think you have it right on the brother even though I am not sure if he really likes anyone. He is such an uninteresting and unsympathetic character I quite dislike him. I dont think its all the good or funny. It has its moments but I dont quite see what the big deal is about it. Some people think its like the best thing ever. I dont think it pushes any buttons either...

But you are dead on about Kodomo no Jikan. That show is seriously funny. The thing is that it is dismissed as just a pervy lolicon anime because of the rep that the manga has. Really its not as bad as people have made it out to sound. But it does like to push buttons. The kids are the ones driving all the sexuality in it. Is there any kid that was not in love with their 3rd grade teacher at some point? The difference with Kodomo no Jikan is that the kids have a level of understanding of sex that I certainly didnt have when I was a kid. Though in this day and age I dont think I could put that out of the range of possibility anymore.

The little of Qwaser I have seen doesnt make me think its a button pusher either. Its more like Queens Blade where its just unapologeticly perverse. The idea of a anime revolving around breast sucking and lactation though is pretty over the top. And to think this aired on TV. Thats what really blows me away. Though I much perfer a title that wants to be perverted and just goes out and does it instead of most which kind of tiptoe around it in such a way that its just silly.

My favorite button pusher of the moment though is Panty & Stocking. I love the way this offends just about everyone and is unconcerned with being totally lewd and raunchy. From the use of the blocky crude looking character models to piss off the newfags to its disgusting bathroom and body function humor and graphic sexual content. I also love how they mocked the anime transformation scene and then drew what I think are the hottest anime characters EVER for it pissing off those people even more. The parody of pop culture and movies from outside of Japan is also cool too. I feel like this is a show that pokes fun and lampoons stuff that anyone can get the joke and not be anime otaku NEET to catch all the references.

I agree on Panty and Stocking. I don't like it mainly as I don't like the art style at all.

But the humour seems more accessible to the non otaku. Or at least more will get the joke whereas I have seen some anime shows, and the gags are really just 'in jokes' that an outside not only won't get, they likely won't even realize was there.

Not sure I have seen any indications in Ore Imouto that the sister actually likes her brother myself. I mean, I think sibling lust is likely no better than forbidden rape fantasies, something most of us will have thought of, but sure as hell will never admit to :)

Not that it never happens, but I think a lot of what happens in a lot of the spicer animes, is likely exaggerated often just to laugh at it openly for the exaggerated nature of the sequence.

I dont really "like" the style either in Panty. However the style is part of the joke and honestly necessary for what they are trying to do. When I saw the artwork and synopsis before the series started I have to say I was like you though and I didnt see any value in it. It wasnt until some friends kept telling me it was good that I decided to give it a chance and I was quite pleased I had.

On Kirano, she has shown jealous tendencies over the course of the series in regards to her brother and attention he is getting from other girls. Like when he stayed the night at that childhood friends house. She hasnt outright said it but then shes a tsundere and thats what they do.

Kodomo no Jikan ended too early, which is why I started reading the manga soon after. There is some pretty serious character development, and anyone our age would realize that the real hottie of the show is Shirai-sensei. For the most part I ignore ecchi stuff, though I laugh when its used for a comedic effect.

Titty Titty Bang Bang (aka Yosuga no Sora) - I am really enjoying it. A lot of people are dropping it because of the H-content, and initially I could see why. Mind you, it wouldn't be too hard to make a toned down edit. Not that I am against nudity, but the exaggeration makes me laugh whenever I see the airbags deploy. Like all pervs, I'm hanging in to see how the Sora arc turns out. The characters are surprisingly well developed. The side stories should definitely be watched seperately I think, as the comedy detracts from the drama of the main storyline.

Imouto - Guilty pleasure. Glad to see its not focused on incest, so far as I can tell. Though part of me things that I'll look back on this thread in a couple of months and say "That was totally about Imouto incest".

and having watched Episode 11 of Titty Titty Bang Bang, I do have to admit I am a bit disturbed. I'm not really surprised since the show is done by the same director as Aki Sora. The disturbing aspect is how Sora reminds me of a slightly old Chiaki Minami, so my mind is subconsciously trying to reconcile a horrible fusion of TTBB and Minami-ke.

I loved Kodomo no Jikan! I really like Yosuga no Sora too. Aki-sora awesome! There were scenes in Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu that got me really "hot" but that was in the begining of my ecchi experiences with anime. But in Seikon No Qwaser there is just TOO much titty scenes and too much tit sucking, that I'm not too sure I can finish it. I do really like the story though.

@alyssav - If you like Aki Sora and Yosuga no Sora, you'd probably like Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru. Its short and sweet, but lacks the H stuff in the Sora titles.

I watched that day after Thanksgiving. It was so much better then the live action version that I watched that night. I have yet to see ep 10 of Yosuga no Sora that you guys are talking about. Can't wait to see what happens. It's a great anime so far, I have really enjoyed it.

I discovered that there is a censored verision to Seikon No Qwaser but it sucks. The timing is off and the voices are messed up. I'd rather watch the titty one.

Quit at ep 09, you've been warned.

I didn't mind the lad fucking half the cast, it's actually nice to finally see an anime lad actually get the girl I mean really get the girl.

But 11, it was too much. Even in my most ridiculous fantasies, the girls still act like real girls eh. There are some things a girl just won't do for you. Well certainly not without a lot of whining :)

And what Sora has done, is ruin the series' credibility.

It didn't help it wasn't just one scene either.

I am left wondering what exactly they will be able to do in 12, that will even make a difference. In the real world, you suddenly need to sell the house and move out of town.

Sore has ruined Yosuga for me too... I was really enjoying the series until she decided to be the main squeeze. I especially dont like how she seems to hate Nao. But if we remove her from the story it would have been a very nice series. I have to tackle the last ep of Yosuga soon and I will be glad when its over.

The other one that has my scratching my head is MM! I cant help but enjoy it, inspite of the main characters perversions. But when the male character does turn serious it is like watching a totally different anime altogether.
May the Uguu be with you.

Wow, there not a worse way for sex to get ruined in ep 11 that is of course if you don't try and do it 4:30 in the morning and your both too freakin tired to follow through, that ruines it too. hehe I can't wait to see ep 12. When does it come out?

Hard to say, most grown ups don't really need the overt dedication to fan service to like a show. Which is something of a paradox I guess, as some of the content is a bit much if you are not old enough as well.

Forbidden isn't too alluring if you're old enough for it to be just a matter of choice to be interested.

Fan service is a term for the inclusion of something that is not essential to the show, merely put in the show for the amusement of the fans.

Thus, seeing a gir'ls panties is not required, but boys like seeing pantie shots apparently.
And bouncing breasts, and bare breasts and bare asses.

But it's not always sex, just seems to be.
Female fan service could be seeing a boy boy couple kissing for all I know.

Fan service can be cleverly hidden 'in jokes' only a fan would see for what it was.

I haven't seen many anime shows that try to do the South Park or Howard Stern shock jock approach of bothering the audience, unless you count Higurashi for having a moe looking DVD boxset cover.

Oh, now I remember my favorite: Nerima Daikon Brothers.

From rubbing daikons and other fan-servicey jokes to political jabs to probably the funniest Michael Jackson parody quote in anime history.

So I finished Yosuga no Sora and I would have to say I am a little disappointed. I hated it Sora and hated the ending. "you can't help who you fall in love with" but come on, there was so much drama in most of the ep how could it end like that?
