| I found the whole car accident thing tactless and contrary to the spirit of the show. But it was easier to accept after discovering its context. This episode was a protest. From tvtropes: |
| To be honest: the most important episode in history of anime, as far as influence into modern day goes. If Toriyama-sensei made the shounen school, and that became the mainstream gateway for young boys to enter. Then Minky Momo is where the boys became men. Nah for real. An alternate version of the popular story Besides: looking back now that I am older: there were hints. Lots of hints. So while "that part" could be a latter decision (production-wise), it was definitely intended for Momo to fail and die at one point. They took a lot of inspiration from classical opera, after all. |

| Wow, watching this ep was like meeting a celebrity. I knew it was gonna come but I was still so surprised it happened so early. Still a shocking contrast in comparison to how cheery the show usually is. Really curious to how it continues from now. |
