This thread is dedicated to any known sales or discounts for anime on DVD. Post anything that you find.

Currently Shop Anime DVD is running a summer clearance with 35%-50% off select domestic releases. Here is the link to the list:
http://www.shopanimedvd.com/default.php?cPath=114

Discount Anime DVD is running 40% off VIZ and Funimation DVDs - Pretty nice for picking up big names like Death Note, Inuyasha, or Fullmetal Alchemist for $15-$18 a volume.
Note: They are dead in the water now..don't bother.

This thread is for Region 1 only. There is another thread for Region 2 dvds.

FYE is having Anime Spectacular July 27th! All anime is buy 1 get 1 half off including new releases! That also includes shirts, accersories, snacks (like Pocky), everything anime! And I think the new Bleach and Naruto boxsets are coming out that day so you'll be sure to get a good deal on those ^^

I'm sad because I can't go. I'm broke. D:

any range on the shipping prices at those places? I always feel like crying when I find a fantastic deal only to find that shipping is like $10.

I know Rightstuf.com is having a 40%+ off sale on Bandai DVDs until July 20... and you get free shipping on orders over $49 all the time...standard shipping is pretty quick too ime.

Shop Anime Dvd has always been pretty reasonable in shipping.

I just made a dummy transation for them (a 5 disk box set and a 1 disk volume..and the cheapest shipping was $3.48..and I get hit with tax since they are in my home town)

Discount Anime DVD has always been a little higher. Anywhere from $3.50-$7.99...and both do free shipping on orders over $100

http://www.animeballz.com/ is another good place to buy boxsets at. They have a ton of them for 70% off.

I ordered my Fullmetal Alchemist Complete Series and Movie from them and it was $50 and S&H was 5 bucks.

I dunno - I kind of get a weird vibe from the site in the 70% off section they have a "Death Note Complete Collection" for $28.98. According to the DN official site, there's never been a "Complete Collection" released - it's been released in 4 box set volumes which retail for about $39 each. And they have the InuYasha stuff which doesn't look anything like the official US release product. I'd only ever pay for officially licensed materials and their website doesn't guarantee that the products are official releases (like some other websites do.)

I know my brother bought a couple seasons of Naruto from a site like that where the deal was incredible (I'm waiting on an e-mail back from him to find out what site it actually was) and when he got it, it looked like it was totally legitimate - with a good outer cover and well published CDs with functioning menus and Japanese/English options, but he realized there was a problem when the subs translated that Naruto had just defeated Orochimaru during the Chunin exam using the power of Zabuza... uh, no... luckily he got his money back by complaining a lot, but he lost on the shipping.

It seems like the non-70% off stuff is mostly legit though.

I did order from them and I am very happy with my dvds. Shipping did take about a week more than it was supposed to but I still got what I paid for. ^^

Not checked out the rest of the site but most of the 70% off stuff is pirated/bootleg material, the clues are the region-free settings, the Chinese/Spanish subtitles (countries of origin for a lot of bootlegs) and the tendency to cram 12+ episodes per DVD (the full series of 'Sailor Moon S' was compressed onto 3 disks! my legit ADV release of the original series is on 8)

Not seen the rest of the site though, but Im not sure Ill chance this one..

Incidentally, Amazon.co.uk are running a sale on Anime, mostly Ghost in the Shell series but theres some good deals around if you browse through.

Play.com is also a pretty decent source for UK anime, all legit, free delivery and their fast! usually get the order within the week.

They currently have a sale on Funimation and ADV titles.

If you're going to complain about bootlegs, Discount Anime DVD is also full of them.

Honestly, a 35% discount on DVDs is hardly something to get excited about if you're buying online. The REGULAR prices of DeepDiscount.com and DVDPacific.com are 35-40% off, and that's when there's NOT a sale going on.

BuyRiteDVD has DVDs for something like 50-70% off, but the big caveat is that they're a reseller who only only carry after-market DVDs, so the possibility exists that there might be damage to the cases, and there's no guarantee they'll have what you want.

But all of the above sites deal in only legit products, so you don't have to worry about shady online companies.

Looks like 40% off on funamation dvds is over at

But now they are doing 40% Bandai. They are still doing the 40% Viz right now.

-dvdpacific is probabelly the best site to purchase anime. Their prices are great, good shipping, not the best customer support, but I can handle this.
- you can find good deals on amazon.com too. I once bought With hunter robin complete series for 23 $ !!! (and it wasn't some bootleg - anime collection release).
- another good site is animenation.com - they have good deals, both anime and manga, the only complain being that they don't display if an item is in stock or not. That might be a bother, I once waited one month before an item was restocked and finally sent to me.

Speaking of Amazon, you can get the Full Metal Alchemist box sets for $22.49 each for the first two box sets and $29.99 each for the second two box sets. I was @ Comic-Con yesterday and the Funimation booths were selling these sets for $40 each. So it's between 50-55% off

And, there is currently a "Superheros and Anime Event" happening on Amazon with deep discounts - no bootlegs are ever sold direct from Amazon, but you could get in trouble buying from a third party through Amazon, so be careful if shopping through another seller on Amazon:
