Note: This is poll assumes you're using the LAME encoder

I want to see what is the most common encoder setting and bit rate here.
INB4 everybody lists 320 kbps cbr ....

@foxes_are_neet

Sometimes I rip cds.
If I download something I'll DL the flac and then transcode to V0 or q6 Vorbis.

I only really notice a difference with the format, like FLACs vs MP3s? D:

I always try to get mine on 320 kbps

Tho I must admit that I will just take what is available.

i always go for variable bitrate for any media if available since there are some parts of a media be it audio or video that only needs small amount of bitrate so you can save more filesize that way

high constant bitrates like 320kbps is so wasteful or inefficient in filesize in other words

Not sure how much this counts, but whenever I'm listening to an MP3 whether it be on my phone or iPod, I usually love to have the bass pretty high. 😍

I use 128 kbps most of the time, since it eats minimum storage space. When it comes to transfer files to a mobile device, it's also fast. Sound quality? It has decent sound quality for the audio equipment connected to my PC, for the mobile device, and for my ears. Also I still have option to use CDs and Hi-Fi audio equipment, if I feel like it.

@kuroneko99

Vorbis and AAC sound pretty amazing at 128 kbps.
It all depends on how it was encoded, I was very impressed with the sound quality of the files on the original The Sims cd-rom and those are 128 kbps mp3s.

I remember my early days of downloading MP3s off the internet, when even 56 kbps was enough as long as I find the song to begin with.

Nowadays I'm satisfied with 256 kbps.

I respect your opinion as long as you respect mine.
