The GA Fes 2026: GA 20th Anniversary event announced a second season for the Isshun de Chiryou shiteita noni Yakutatazu to Tsuihou sareta Tensai Chiyushi, Yami Healer toshite Tanoshiku Ikiru (The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows) television anime on Sunday, revealing an announcement promo and visual (pictured).

Produced by Makaria, the first season adapting Sakaku Hishikawa's adventure fantasy light novel aired in 12 episodes in Spring 2025. Crunchyroll simulcasted the anime with multiple subtitles and dubs.

Hishikawa began penning the series, also known by its short title Yami Healer, on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in November 2020. SB Creative began printing the novel under its GA Novel label with illustrations by Daburyuu the following October. The eighth volume went on sale in March 2025.

A manga adaptation by Ten Junoichi launched on the GA Comic website in January 2022. SB Creative released the fifth volume in June 2025.

J-Novel Club licensed both the light novel and manga adaptation in English in September 2023 and digitally published the eighth novel volume on December 15 and the fourth manga volume on September 24 last year.

Synopsis
Healers have always been a pivotal part of the Kingdom of Herzeth, but becoming one requires an official license, which demands years of studying. Despite growing up poor, a pragmatic young man, Zenos, taught himself everything about healing. As an exceptional healer, Zenos was even recruited by an adventurer party but eventually kicked out. When he meets and helps an elf slave named Lily, he realizes his new ambition: he wants to open a clinic in the shadows, serving those who may otherwise be cast aside.

Zenos starts his underground practice alongside Lily, but he is immediately pulled into a conflict between lizardmen, werewolves, and orcs—which he quickly resolves and unites the races, thanks to his healing abilities. However, when the royal knights hear rumors of his recent accomplishments and are less than pleased, Zenos must find a way to continue his operations without compromising his principles. well that was some nice news to get this morning! :D i enjoyed Season 1 and i'm happy a S2 is on the way. i do hope that if studio Makaria is doing S2 they put a LOT more manpower/hours and QUALITY into the sequel than they did with S1. it did NOT look that good to me. the story and acting cast DEFINITELY carried S1 IMHO. :)

if a new studio has picked up this franchise i think they should examine S1 closely and keep what studio Makaria did right and improve GREATLY on where Makaria fell short! :D
just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.
