I'm hoping the same. Nico supposed to be witch of 1000 spells. They just show off maybe 4 spells and repeat the same 4 making all episodes feel the same. I'm pretty sure the main plot maybe only got 10 episodes through the whole thing.

I stopped after the plot stopped. They should have separated the plot 1/2 from the “funny” gag humor 1/2. It wasn’t funny. “City” was funnier gag humor. This way I could finish one season and not watch the stupid shit.

Yes because even the gag episodes are smart and have a good construction allowing good character developpement. It isn't fillers, it is just the pacing of the story. If you don't like it I don't think you have to watch comedies, you just loose your time

But, there is 1 good episode that adds absolutely nothing, but is really good, the one where the tengu works a couple of jobs.

This gets a sequel? Man the production of season 1 was underwhelming. Sket dance did a better job 13 years ago. Maybe they should make as sequel to that instead.

Yeah, I agree. But we both knew the ongoing manga was more likely to get another season of anime than the manga that ended over a decade ago.
On the positive side, another 25 episodes of Witch Watch will be enough to complete the first manga arc.

Except for another recurring character introduced in episode 21, nothing noteworthy happens for the remainder of the season. Season 2 will offer more substance if you're willing to wait that long.

@Yuu_Kanzaki If you don't like the style of random episodic comedy for most parts I'd say to just drop it cause that's what most of the series is.

However, if you're fine with that and just felt like cour 2 went too long without any overarching plot I would say stick with it and finish those 6 episodes.
Season 2 will most likely cover the rest of "Part 1" it'll have a lot more serious moments and arcs that push the story forward (a lot more romance and a lot more fights), there's even a mini arc that serves as a callback to sket dance.

Ultimately its up to you, I really enjoyed the manga and if it's not for you that's fine

@MaxTezcat Shinohara's first work was pretty much slice of life and comedy from what I understand, which was probably a reason for this series striking more an 80/20 ratio of slice of life and comedy to the action plot, since it allowed for a brief "crossover"

I feel like we're going to have to wait a few years and that's even if the manga is leading towards a significant development.

@JizzyHitler I have to wonder if they're already talking with Shinohara about long term plans, since depending on how they do it, they may be able to condense it into, say, 3 seasons depending on where S2 ends, but if it goes like this, then S2's second half would potentially end at a point that might necessitate a lot of cutting to address just the essentials

@Yuu_Kanzaki Honestly the anime is quite a good adaptation in terms of not skipping key chapters and such, some chapters are adapted before others but it all ends up quite coherent. The core story is left there and there's not much to gain if you went back and read the skipped chapters, just jokes and not really anything that pushes relationships and plot further.

As for the "directionless" there are moments within the manga where it is just constant joke chapters without much sense of where its going. However I do believe that with season 2 if it is another 25 episodes and adapts up to where it should, then it will be a lot better than season 1 for you. Romance progression between characters will be pushed a lot more even in those smaller comedy moments, the action moments will happen a lot more often, and the main plot will be mostly solved by the end.

Up to you but I would say push through to season 2 and if you still feel the same about the show drop it completely.

If you want another manga that is similar to SKET Dance I'd say check out Phantom Busters it's short and ongoing but it gave me the same vibe.
