| Karma is pretty much the idea that if you do good things, good stuff will come back to you, and that if you do bad things, they will eventually catch up to you (in your current life or even your next ones). Is that something you believe in? Or do you think someone could be as good as they can but never see any positive outcomes out of it, and that someone absolutely evil could never face any consequences and die peacefully? |
| I believe those who consistently behave in malicious ways, carry certain indignities inside them, and in general give off a bad energy tend to find that misfortune will find them quicker. And it usually comes in the shape of just desserts, because that's what a person like that carries inside of them. Manifestation is a real thing, and it requires physical input. If you force a positive attitude, go for a walk, smile when you don't want to, do a few good deeds, and reward yourself for being productive I guarantee you'll end the day feeling better than you would have if you spent your day wallowing angrily, mistreating people, blaming everything and everyone and abusing your body. Karma runs the same concept but outward rather than inward. That's why you'll find that the most successful pieces of shit in history only ever did evil things privately, and outwardly gave a positive impression. That may be a spiritual thing inherently, it's probably not but what do I know. I think that qualifies as karma regardless. Reading other replies in this thread makes me want to add: This concept isn't definite, it's a trend rather than a law. Also, equating fame, notoriety and even riches to not having received karma is misdirected |

My mother in particular was far too nice and helpful to people, she helped people similarly affect by our illnesses get treated at the hospital we were at, I think expecting a little payback in return that never appeared. She often aided people who had fallen over and were hurt outside too. And no, as far as I know all the people that did wrong to us all (sometimes gleefully) were never made accountable for anything, instead trying to deflect the blame onto us, ruining our reputation and harming us even more. I honestly wish my mother was more selfish, as including more people along the way made it so much more difficult, as they weren't cooperative and just looked out for themselves. We may have had a chance for justice if it was just kept to ourselves. |

I think everyday observation should show you that if there's anything like a reward system baked into this universe it's biased to favor evil deeds. There are reasons why certain ancient philosophies accused creation and the creator of being ill-intentioned, and those reasons haven't lost their force; indeed, they're stronger than ever.

| @Zarutaku Well, karma is a concept most often attached to religions based on reincarnation, so a lot of people believe in it since they grew up with it, not necessarily because they desperately want it to exist. The same could be said of all religions with an afterlife. |

Does Karma balance it out, or you get a very bad thing followed by a very good thing in sucession? If I do a big evil deed and a lot of small low impact good deeds they cancel out? | Karma is just the fact that your actions can come back at you. Karma is not so intelligently guided like divine reward/punishment so it isn't always a 1 to 1 result. |
