| @Retro8bit My first Fire Emblem game was Awakening on the Nintendo DS and on that one you could turn off permadeath so I assume that's the case for any game released since then. The only other FE I've played was Three Houses and permadeath wasn't forced there either |

| @Retro8bit Every FE title on 3DS and Switch has permadeath as optional. It has been like that since Awakening. |

| @NS2D Okay cool thanks, good to know! It's one of the reasons why I never got too much into the series, just like Valkyrie Chronicles. I wanted to try Heroes as well because I'm assuming there can't be any permadeath in a game like that. |

It has been sooo many years since I played it and It was only the first game in the series so maybe the others are different. I also really dislike games where you permanently lose characters or items. I think having to restart the map is punishment enough. Whenever I feel like a game is just artificially wasting my time for no reason I tend to drop it |
