RIP Patriot. What an epic showdown with quite organic flashbacks to peek into the past. Though once again the cuts left right and center, to other places and people, really didn't help. Not sure why they can't create one episode, or heck just one half even, that'd focus on one thing. Especially this significant.

While the wider story might be confusing as hell, I think for the most part anyway, I actually understood this episode lol. RIP patriot, I’m not sure of all of his motivations, but he struck me as a person so committed to their ideals and path that the only direction was forward. Even if he wanted to stop, he couldn’t. All he had was war and fighting and wanted to be put out of his misery, finally freed from the shackles of fate.

The fight animation was really good as usual, great sound design as well. Some solid CGI usage too. I was really shocked when Patriot somehow got a second wind there at the end and got mad at Amiya for comforting him in his final moments. He was such an interesting character it’s sad to lose him so soon. At least he can finally be reunited with his wife.

I’m confused on the prophecy he brought up for Amiya tho. So is she prophesized to be some evil villain at some point? Little old Amiya doesn’t seem like she’d hurt a fly if she could avoid it. Good episode tho

And so comes the Death of a Patriot. Of the most ancient bloodline among the warriors of Sarkaz. Of Ursus's indomitable incarnation of war. Of the backbone of the Reunion Movement. Of Yelena's father.
Music was banging this episode, the chorus starting up when Patriot was readying to attack was *chef's kiss*, and the BGM during the whole fight sequence was great.

Amiya has now been revealed to have been the one who the former King of Sarkaz, Theresa, gave her Black Crown to. I hope that one day we'll get to see animated when and how exactly that happened, but unless they surprise us again like they did with the Darknights Memoir event, that will be a long way off. Also Kal'tsit smoothly avoiding Patriot's question about her age. The hag is merely embarrassed, methinks.

An epic showdown as I expected and Patriot being the indestructible juggernaut that he is. Quite something to see their fight animated that I would not see in the game

That was pretty damn good, even if a little bit flew by me ( not playing the game hurts in this I guess) but man WHAT A FIGHT!

Rhodes Island tries to negotiate with Patriot, but it fails and leads to a brutal fight between him and R.I. It was cool seeing Patriot take down Mon3tr. Amiya defeats him in the end, and he entrusts her with the key to stop Chernobog. Before dying, he sees through the illusion Amiya created of him reuniting with his dead family. He realizes she’s Theresa’s successor and the new Lord of Fiends. He almost kills her, but stops at the last second and dies reaching out to her. With the death of Patriot, the Shieldguards decide to kill Talulah at the command tower.

Overall, a decent episode. It turned out better than I expected. RIP Buldrokkas'tee, the last Wendigo. His flashback and the prophecy scene didn’t hit as hard as they did in the game, it was still a decent adaptation of his last march.

Patriot should be the image example of a RPG tank. Because, damn! Was incredible.

Amiya again with the important kill.

That was so much new interesting information about Amiya that I forgot that then main part about this arc, is Ch'en and Talullah.

The final march of the Patriot :`(

For doing all their stuff in studio (iirc), the CG is pretty good. Mixed with how the characters are drawn, I actually like the end product.

rest in peace captain o7

I really wanted to hear the great purge song play but oh well great stuff still, love the sounds used for patriot and the cgi was pretty good. Also seeing amiyas face hidden in the back before you see what she did was neat.

It was moving to see Patriot's ending, but since the PV's release, I'd realized that this 3D version would take away much of the emotion.

I liked this fan-made animation much more. The music is moving, and the final fight is beautifully animated and directed, conveying a high level of emotion. It's a shame to say this, but this fan-made animation was far superior in the fight section.

That was a heartfelt battle. What kalsit said perfectly summarized his motivations. He only had war in his life. But whenever he tried to look away from it and believe in a new hope, he always ends up getting betrayed. His last march was his last attempt to believe in himself. Despite all the betrayals and regrets he wanted to believe his fight had meaning. I never thought i'd feel this sad from patriot's fight. Good episode.

Even with just a glimpse, that's pretty big spoilerinos that are also not that relevant currently. All that anime-onlys need to know at this point is that Amiya carries the Black Crown and thus is titled the Lord of Fiends. What exactly that means for her and others, and what the Black Crown is, will come in time.

Patriot kept pushing forward and even gave Monst3r a knockout with his fist. Now that's badass!

I'm sorry, but Rosmontis is wearing something amazing under her cloak really took me out of the fight for a quick second lol

RIP Patriot and Frostnova T_T

They were true allies of the Infected, too bad they kept on ending up on the wrong side of the war and fall to the stronger group (that is Rhodes Island).

.

so he was not happy to die with joy...

He wanted to die True, he wanted to die with Honor, he wanted to die going against Fate

But yet... the truth reveals he didn't die True, as Amiya showed him a false end, he didn't die with Honor as he stopped himself at the very end with Frostnova's voice, he died not going against Fate as he died with what was already foretold as thus now realized everything will go as Fate decreed.

Rewatched this series, so I didn't have to think about the lore and this episode was a masterpiece. Patriot's character was so massive he was able to put-over Kal'tist, Rosmontis, and Amiya in that order.

Kal'tist Shows her respect on introduction and honors by allowing her to give him his last rights.

Rosmontis Acknowledges her strength and calls out her weakness, she carries no regrets.

Amiya He gives her the Mau'dib treatment. Fighting against, then dying for her ideals. Declared her king and prophesied the destruction they will bring to come to fruition.

Everything is credible with how unwavering he is in body and conviction. Oh and the art and sound where flawless, plus I don't recall seeing anything similar in the past.

This is so sad. I was about to tear up but then Patriot suddenly got mad.

What I saw that day... the despair stuck in my throat, the futile attempts to scream... I want to bury it all deep inside my mind and never let it out again...

Patriot never backed down, never took a step back. Patriot just kept on marching endlessly against Amiya, against Rhodes Island but primarily and foremost against fate itself.

Even with all that pain and regret he shouldered he never looked back up until the very end and even then he refused the blissful memories that Amiya prepared for him as his finale.
I'll say if anything was not as I expected out of this episode that would be the lack of a Steve Aoki composition on Patriot's march. And for any anime-only people I fully recommend "End like this" by Steve Aoki & Yellow Claw.
