I'm a dub lover and I mainly watch dub and from the synopsis, it says she's from England so I can see she's probably gonna speak English. Why won't it need an English dub for that? That's like asking why Black Butler or Case Study of Vanitas have English dubs.

cus she actually speaks English in the sub and doesn't have the best Japanese witch creates this language barrier which plays a huge part in the show and that doesn't exist if they all speak the same language

I see. Well, if that's it then no issue. I'll still watch the dub cause if there's dub, I'm in, lol.
I've seen stuff like that in other anime so I'm not surprised. Thanks anyways.

im only saying that abt this show because of the language barrier between the main characters that dosnt make sense if there speaking only one language. so the only way to capture that in a dub would be for them to swap one of the 2 languages with another ultimately leading back to needing subtitles and kinda defeating the purpose of a dub imo

they made the Japanese guy speak normal English while the British girl speaks with a thick British accent ( think monty python and the holy grail if you have ever seen that movie if not then it's basically English with a gimmick) so now he has to form a fake British accent to speak to her and personally I think it's hilarious .

also sorry if my original comment came of as hating

That is what I ask every time a generic isekai/fantasy anime gets a dub instead of anime like this one.

oh, the "soul" stuff. look, man, it's 2025. the language in which another man watches anime isn't your concern.

It got a dub?

That is definitely a weird pick. I like dubs, but I agree, It feels like watching a show like this in full English would kinda ruin it.

Though then again, even the sub could use more consistancy.

you may have missed the part where I said I watch BOTH sub and dub. what you said doesn't mean anything to me, y'know? I love dub way more and I prefer it to sub even though I watch BOTH.
if you still wanna say something, talk to a wall.
good riddance.

I also find it odd this anime has a dub and I agree, since Lily's Japanese voice actress already does speak English sometimes in the episodes, so having an English dub would take away language barrier and not be much of a "cultural exchange" between Lily & Renji's characters.

An edit: I did watch 9:53 of the episode English dubbed and they just had Lily speak British English.

True and I remember in Kinmoza Alice and Karen spoke English at times.

It's even worse than that. The subbed version makes sense as you said. He speaks Japanese, and she speaks in English, which is a terrible, fake British accent.

Are there no actual British VAs? I know there's CdawgVA that has an English accent, but his voice is probably too deep to play the dude. It would have been weirder if he voiced the girl, but hey, it's 2025, I guess.

In the dub, she still speaks with her terrible fake British accent, and then he also speaks with a fake terrible British accent, and then they go "I can't understand what you're saying."

Is that a joke at the British? Even they can't understand each other or something? It would have made more sense if she were Scottish or maybe Irish. I don't think anybody can understand what they are saying. Ever.

The first episode doesn't have that much dialogue, so I couldn't tell if he was speaking in broken English and imitating her accent. People do that sometimes. I think it's a subconscious thing (I do it sometimes when trying to translate from English to French or vice versa when talking to someone). That would at least make the dub make a little more sense, but not much.

The mom's fake British accent is even worse.

Whether subbed or dubbed, I think the show is kind of terrible. I'm not British, but I can't stand the fake accents. If you can't get actual British VAs, then don't bother with the accent. The anime would have worked just as well. It's almost as bad as the fake accents in the Tears to Tiara dub (I think that was the one).

Money is any item or verifiable record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts, such as taxes, in a particular country or socio-economic context.[1][2][3] The primary functions which distinguish money are: medium of exchange, a unit of account, a store of value and sometimes, a standard of deferred payment.

Even if a dub doesn't make linguistic sense in the context of the story, making one is still a good idea for the sake of accessibility (visually impaired, etc.) and publicity.
Some of you never watched Bakugan Battle Brawlers on TeleToon in 2008 and it shows.

@APolygons2 Yeah I agree, the subs for this haven't been the best on any platform I can watch it on.
I like to watch some anime, I like to talk about some anime, I dislike wars over some anime, but more than anything I love to live my life, anime is an enjoyable and entertaining addition onto my life but it's not my whole life.

I have no idea why they are ENG dubbing this, but one thing is for sure, it's criminal that they didn't keep Sally Amaki for the dub as well. If there was one way to make the ENG dub subpar compared to the JP dub it was that.

Doesn't mean that the fake accent is any better lol. I'm sure they could have found an actual British female VA. Heck, an Australian might have also been passable.

@Euthymia_Gerv the subtitles give an idea about without change the specific into an act (if you did find an honest translator) in contrast with rebuilding the audio without a director the have a direct contact with the story creator that lead the emotions where it should be and who going perform the act [comparison between the Japanese dubber and others is like comparing between day and night] (the minority still exist but isn't enough)
