We all have things we find underrated/lesser known that deserve more attention...and this absolutely is eureka seven. Can't wait to go on this enthralling adventure and live it up with the Gekko state crew again. Have any of you rewatched/watched this recently?Do you feel it still holds up? What's some of your favorite moments...

This show ripped off Gundam X, but Eureka 7 is better in key areas. Ray & Charles arc is my favorite part. Everything afterwards sucks.

@Lucifrost Never seen Gundam x, but I highly doubt it has themes like the planet creating a being so it can experience itself and life, and determine if it should go on and destroy itself. I may be wrong. I don't really care if anyone feels it ripped off anything, anime by design "rips" off all its predecessors with certain themes and tropes.

My favorite thing about eureka seven is I feel it crescendos perfectly. It keeps getting better as it goes along

Yeah wery nice anime, actualy one of my favorite, and many years ago when I watched it, that anime realy did the thing...
But wery sad that they change the meaning of first series and as almost always producer decided to do some modern s*it and destroyed all of saga imho...
I think it is totaly destroyed title and they should stikc with native script and stop doing otherwise...
Hey, but does anyone of them listen to us... to sad...

@ssvmdh I actually haven't checked out any of the releases after the original but I plan on doing it this time so I can formulate my own opinions...but, I have seen that the consensus is pretty unanimous on the post releases not being too great

@Cestlavie_ That's ok, but why are you here 😂 Renton is pretty irritating but, he's also a naive 14 year old boy for the beginning of the anime.

Love Eureka 7. Definitely would love to rewatch it someday. Series just kept getting better and better especially the story.

Easily one of, if not my favorite anime, of all time. The emotions, the sleek mecha designs, the worldbuilding, the large cast of colorful characters, the music. It's a show that just oozes style and while sure it's by no means perfect, it just has so many enjoyable moving parts that make it a classic. Now if they could just actually give it a sequel worthy of the original haha.

@Kagehina13 Nailed exactly how I feel! This was the first anime I watched that truly moved me! Love it! Unfortunately it'll probably never get another installment, but ya never know!

Even if we never get a proper sequel, the original is so special and worth rewatching to experience the adventures again and again.

Just finished a rewatch of this last fall - probably the first time in over ten years. It definitely holds up over time. I think I still prefer the first half to the back, with the midway point of the series being the best. But I enjoyed it all still! It’s definitely one of my favorites from the mid 2000s.

Awesome to hear! I just finished rewatching code geass, so I felt it was only right to rewatch this from the same era. Glad to hear you felt it still holds up!

I need to rewatch this, I was watching it whilst it was airing but stopped watching because of exams back then.

The track storyteller has been in my playlist for almost 20 years.

I know of the sequels, they did interest me at the time but I didn't watch them as I never finished the original series. Might be time to rewatch it from the beginning.

@JCDRANZER Highly suggest that you do! I don't think you'll regret it, albeit the beginning is slow :)

@Salvaged My memory is a little vague when it comes to the ending somewhat because I think I must have finished the original series but also at the same time I think I never finished it. I watched the series before I joined MAL, at the time I decided to just records show that I was watching at the time and I didn't add many of the shows I had seen before (should have made sure to have done it properly at the time).

There is a way to see if I did actually finish the series or not because I would have made a post about it on the Eureka Seven thread on Fansub.TV (a website), which I just found out that I can not access anymore because of the UK Online Safety Act (It's a poorly written law). I use the same handle/name on Fansub.TV as the one I use here, which is JCDRANZER.

Not sure if this link would help:-

@JCDRANZER That's super cool that you watched it way back and posted on a sub forumn. Sucks that law is interfering with your ability to log back in!

I caught it late on cartoon network, 2006-2007 and had no idea what anime it was. I spent a while trying to figure it out, and when I did I was able to pirate the whole anime and finish it and was so pleased. I watched the whole thing on an iPod nano with a screen less than an inch in size 🤣

@Salvaged Oh wow, iPod nano, it doesn't feel too long ago but it genuinely is.

Eureka Seven is a pretty good anime to introduce people to and I'm going to assume that it might have been your first anime (I might be wrong here though). My first anime (that I knew was an anime and was watching it in Japanese with Eng subs) was Evangelion, which had a yellow tinge filter on the video with the subtitles being in yellow as well, I downloaded it off Kazaa, looking back it was a very poor copy of the series. It was a very weird experience for me, I was only 12 years old at the time.

it feels very slow, also I can't stop comparing the mc to Naruto, both also have similar personalities and voice

@anikevin The MC's definitely have their parallels, but I feel as time goes on Renton and Naruto take different personalities and paths.

Also, it is slow. Definitely worth hanging in there for most :)
