1979 akage no Anne, is my all time fav anime. Seeing the story get a new adaption knowing that people who haven’t experienced it will have a chance to makes me happy. However, I highly doubt it will top the 1979 version. If you haven’t had a chance to watch original I highly suggest you do. It’s up for free on YouTube. What do y’all think, will this new adaption be decent? |

Book reader here, I dont think there will ever be an adaptation that comes closer to Isao Takahata's version but lets have some hope that it will be at least decent... though knowing the studio behind it makes it a bit difficult :'D |

Nothing can be better than the Takahata's original masterpiece. Is Nippon Animation even involved in this? |

@MaeglinP Takahata is one of my all time fav directors and on top of that Miyazaki story boarded the show. It’s just hard to believe anyone will top what they did with the story. But I’d love to be proved wrong. |

It WON’T top the '79 version. Akage no Anne is one of my favourite anime and tbh I can’t wait to see this new adaptation. But let’s be real no adaptation is ever gonna beat the masterpiece that is Akage no Anne |

Skeptical for sure the original was a masterpiece, maybe modern art and animation will attract the more casual audience and get them to enjoy the brilliant story. |

There have been plenty of adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. Akage no Anne's choice to adapt a single, roughly 250, page book into 50 episodes is seemingly absurd but allowed for one of the greatest uses of pacing I've seen in anime. I do genuinely think a passable to pretty good adaptation in a much shorter amount of time is doable, but I think doing that when Takahata and his crew at World Masterpiece Theatre made an absolutely transcendent experience is just not enough. The best thing they could do is focus on the later books in the Anne series Akage no Anne didn't adapt. |
Watch FLCL. Got it |

I don't think it'll be merely as good as the original, though if done right it'll be nice to re experience it in a modern way. Especially if the animation and artstyle were gorgeous knowing the modern methods available. if this project was out of passion with a clear correct view and there's a good budget and time for it, it'll be one of the finest Anime to come out these years definitely. I hope they do justice to it, Anne is one of the best female characters I've ever seen. |

Its genuinely crazy 1979 was 44 years yet the remake will 100% have worse art and animation even if the studio wasnt garbage. Almost half a century of progress that has achieved nothing. |

I just know it will be ass, but I will watch it anyway. The teaser images I've seen on Twitter looked kinda bare? I do wish it was at least prettier to look at, especially with today's technology. I was shocked and happy when I got the notification nonetheless. The 70's adaptation is one of my top fav anime and I've read the original books as a kid. Thing is, I can't rewatch the original anime anymore. Last time I tried, I couldn't stop crying. So I do look forward to this adaptation so I can hopefully enjoy the franchise again without triggering some sort of traumatic nostalghia lol |
