On the official site for the anime adaptation of Kohei Horikoshi's manga, “Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia)”, it was announced that the seventh season will have a duration of 21 episodes, not counting the compilation episodes that aired in April . -2024. It should be noted that this is the first time, since the first season in Spring 2016, that a season of this iconic franchise does not have 25 episodes.

In addition, to celebrate this announcement, a new promotional image for the seventh season was also revealed:

This seventh season has been broadcast since last May 4, after four compilation episodes were broadcast during the month of April-2024. For his part, Koshei Horikoshi began publishing the Boku no Hero Academia manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 2014 and entered its last story arc in March 2021.

Blud needs to understand what it means to be a 'shorter' season.
21 episodes ain't that short, considering the animation has caught up to manga and MHA anime yearly release, less than 25 episodes was somewhat predictable this season.

Well, I guess it IS technically shorter. Not enough to really be worth mentioning, though. It's still two cours either way.

What is the current chapter, and where will this likely adapt up until? I wonder how close we are to catching up and if we'll see some anime only filler stuff.

It's shorter, but definitely not worth pointing out. Besides, if you count the recaps then technically the other seasons weren't 25 episodes either.

Makes me wonder how long season 8 will take and how long will it be? Heard some people saying S8 could only be 13 episodes. Gotta give it to the madlads at Bones for still animating even though we're caught up. If it takes as long as previous seasons have we can expect it Fall 2025.

I guess my main question is how much material will be left to adapt after this season?

@Ninjanime

Season 7 would probably adapt around 70 chapters.
Also, the manga is almost at its end.

Then season 8 would cover up the last 40-50 chapters.
