Apparently Akudama drive has a manga adaptation that I just found out about, despite this series being in my top 10 for years now: https://www.ebookrenta.com/renta/sc/frm/item/141776

So what the hell? why isn't this on mal? If It was I would have found out about it WAY sooner.

@Y-MELLY I talked to a mod back when I made this post about it.

Apparently it's because it didn't have any physical release, and the publisher wasn't big enough or something like that.

Which I mean I get why that rule exists, they don't want thousands of self published online manga to make their way on the website, but with this being an official adaptation of an IP that already exists on the website, I think it's extremely dumb to not have an exception for cases like this.

I think pretty much every user would agree that in a context like this, the rule is completely stupid. But this isn't the first or last time MAL has made exceptionally weird choices when it comes to what they include in their database, so what can you do.

@APolygons2 very true. Sometimes I wonder whether the developers behind this database are asleep 😴 .

@APolygons2 but anyway, despite it's flaw, I think we can all agree that MAL is the best database for anime/manga for far πŸ˜‰.

@Chibihiime I even kept wondering myself why LOTR isn't on MAL and so on. But I think when an American producer or director has his/her hand mostly on the animation πŸ€” than the Japanese, then MAL don't deem it as to be on their site

@Chibihiime this is a problem that MAL admins need to discuss about, because i recently came across an anime which I check MAL to update on my profile, I couldn't find it to my surprise. But then MAL admins need to do better. And I saw it now a Japanese media that owns MAL, all the more reason to add any stuff that has a Japanese director and Japanese dubbing to the list

@Chibihiime there is an anime produced by crunchyroll, i couldn't even find it here to begin with. I thought the site who told me about the cruchyroll anime was lying πŸ€₯, becos I couldn't find it on MAL, just for me to find out about months back that this anime actually exist and it isn't added on MAL database l, I was disappointed πŸ˜”. Because this site has helped me a lot since 2009. After my account was stolen I had to open another one around 2022 to update what I could remember πŸ™ƒ I have watched πŸ‘€

@Chibihiime yeah true. I didn't know much about the animation - onyx equinox somebody messaged me about it to watch on my free time last year but forgot to check it out until now. I only checked MAL and saw it wasn't here. Then I moved on. Thanks 😊 for the information.
